Another beautiful camp in a wonderful setting. The staff were very helpful and informative and made us feel very welcome. The hot air balloon trip was just incredible.

A wonderful setting, a wonderful experience

Extremely friendly, very happy staff. Wonderful accommodation and spectacular views. Excellent guide on the wonderful trip to Sossusvlei. David made it great fun as well as being very informative.

I also enjoyed the sleep out under the stars on the roof of the bathroom at the back of our tent.

A great feeling of absolute wilderness.

Kulala Wilderness Camp review

Yet another warm and friendly welcome. We would have preferred a camp nearer to the Dunes.

The early morning Balloon flight was spell-binding and the champagne breakfast outstanding.

The Guide here was very nice, but at times difficult to understand and had limited knowledge. He was still training.
Food disappointing in comparison.

Morning excursion to the dunes: Quite a long drive to the Dunes. Would have preferred a less crowded dune then dune 45.
Friends had walked up Big Daddy - just 4 of them and had an excellent experience.
A fascinating morning at the biggest beack in the world.

Kulala Wilderness Camp review

This place was a bit stiff in contrast to Zebra which made it a bit uncomfortable to have the kids there. Again staff did not seem to be paid such that they required tips to suppliment wages.

Toddlers would be hard work in this venue due to high verandahs with minimal railings.

Scenery was stunning.

Kulala Wilderness Camp review

Thomas, the manager, and his wife made us feel very welcome, although we were slightly surprised that one of the first things Thomas did for us when we arrived was arrange restaurant bookings for us in Swakopmund, which was the next place we were staying. However this was quite a good idea.

The setting and the views are good, and we enjoyed the sundowner drive. We went on an organised trip to Sossusvlei, which had its good points, but we were a little disappointed as we felt we were rushed and weren't given the opportunity to climb one of the big dunes.

Bottled water is free, unlike Doro Nawas.

Dunes and sunsets

Wonderful views from the rooms and lodge. A great place to relax.

This is more than just a camp, Thomas and his staff are very friendly and ready to please at all times. The trip to Sossusvlei dunes was spectacular and well worth the 5.30 start. The lodge guide knew the best way to miss the overlanders and keep the dunes intimate. While it can be hard work climbing the dunes at times, it is truly the best way to enter Dead Vlei.

Top tip - Get Thomas to bring a bottle of fizz to your room to watch the sun set from your deck.

Kulala Wilderness Camp review

Thomas and Henrietta and their colleagues make a wonderful team! Very spontanious, helpful and serviceminded people! Beautifully located lodge with a fantastic view from the tents.

The tour to the dunes and Sesriem Canyon is really worth while. It's a long tour though: we admire the guides that do the tours every day!

Kulala Wilderness Camp review

Absolutely excellent! What a location! We arrived just after it fell dark and were greated with glasses of sherry and then taken to our tented cabin - quite a long walk in the dark which added to the experience. The cabin was surprisingly comfortable, though it was a joy to go into the warm, stone-built bathroom area which absorbed the daytime heat so that it was so much warmer than the tented part during the evening and night! We were appreciative of the hot water bottles that were brought down to us each night.

On the second night a very strong wind blew up. This inevitably made it noisy, draughty, and rather cold, but it was still a fantastic place to stay at. What views from the tent windows and its little balcony!

All the staff were incredibly friendly and keen to help. (Thomas, the manager, even went to the trouble to book us restaurant places in Swakomund for the nights we were there because he thought we would have trouble in finding anywhere that was free. This was most appreciated.)

We had some of the best meals at this Camp.

Our first morning was an early rise to go on the Landrover trip to Sossusvlei. Bariar was our guide and we could not have had a better one. This trip was perhaps the highlight of the holiday, largely thanks to him. His humour and enthusiasm were infectious, and he was a mine of information about everything we saw. We learnt a lot from him. We climbed one of the dunes, slid down into Dead Vlei, and took a great number of photos. On the way back we briefly visited Sessriem Canyon.

Later we sat on the verandah at the Camp enjoying the fantastic view while having a drink and cake.

Kulala Wilderness Camp Review

Truly tremendous. From the moment we arrived we again could not have been made more welcome. The manager and his wife could not have been more friendly and when we showed our own enthusiasm for the country, the lodge and the surroundings the levels of service became even better. We felt more like friends than visitors.

We were treated with generosity and care, including a complimentary sundowner drive with the guide who had taken us to the dunes, an incredible experience that would have made the whole trip worthwhile on its own and to the balloon flight which likewise would have justified the whole holiday.

Fantastic views, superb trips, great service. I can't think of any more to say.
