Rostock Ritz review
Superb location and outlook.
The children loved the meercats and swimming pool
A great place to stop on route to Soussusvlei
Very freindly and accommodating
Meerkats at Rostock Ritz
Rostock Ritz was an enforced stop as we could not drive from Tok Tokkie to Swakopmund in daylight hours. The rooms here are individual igloos designed to be cool in the hottest weather. The owner was very welcoming and nothing could be faulted with an excellent menu choice for the evening meal; ostrich steak for me and hake for my wife.
The delight here though are the Meerkats and if you were not lucky enough to see them in the wild then you can see them here. They run a rehabilitation unit rescuing Meerkats that have outgrown their owners since the locals like to keep them as pets. There were four here on our visit and equally as charming as we have seen on our television screens. Perhaps all the others are selling insurance in the UK!
A brisk morning walk just after sun rise brought us to a herd of very timid Hartmann's mountain zebra. All in all a grate stop over.
Rostock Ritz review
We weren't expecting much from this night - it was in the itinerary really just to have somewhere to break the journey on the way to Sossusvlei, but what a treat! The landscape is absolutely stunning, and the drive up through the mountains had been tough but the scenery was majestic.
The accommodation itself was unique - spacious and well appointed. The staff were very friendly and it was clearly very popular with Namibians. It's run by Kucki and his family, whose pub in Swakopmund is now such an institution, and as he walks the floor attentively and keeps the staff busy, it's clear why that place became such a success.
The meerkat rehab area was unmissable for our 5 year old. We also had a very enjoyable dawn walk in the hills to see the mountain zebra.
Beautiful Rostock Ritz
A delightful place to stop-over on a long journey, one to which we would return for a longer stay. All the staff were friendly and interested in what we wanted to do.
As we were there only overnight we did not do activities but looked upon it as a welcome and indulgent rest. The pool area is a dream, both during the day and at night for star-gazing
Desert Refuge
Very unusual location. We were in very hot exceptional weather - 40c plus, therefore could have used air-con! Staff very friendly and helpful. Good vista from the rooms.

Our 3rd stay and as good as ever with great well marked walks of varying lengths and terrarrin , oroiginal and comfy accomodation and great food.
Incomparable to be honest and a true one off.
Fun overnight stop at Rostock Ritz
In the middle of nowhere, very interesting room design, a bit small but warm and cosy, Kuecki is a chef and the food is excellent.
Tame zebra - came for breakfast, and porcupine - came for dinner.
We were only there overnight but it was fun.
Stunning views from our honeymoon suite
Putting us in the bridal suite at no extra cost could be an example of Expert Africa clients getting special treatment.
Our room was magnificent. Outstanding views from our private terrace. The igloos are successful in creating cool accommodation in a hot climate.
The only a la carte restaurant in the Namib gives it something different in the way of food and the self guided walks are fun and welcome after a day in the car. We both loved this place.
Rostock Ritz review
Really liked Rostock Ritz.
The rooms were small but adequate and the view was outstanding. The food here was superb and also the pool and general areas such as bar, lounge, were lovely if you wanted to relax so everthing else about this lodge made up for the room. The lodge has 10 walking trails too, one of which we did.
Rostock Ritz review
This was a brilliant place to end our honeymoon and Kuchi is a brilliant host with a team of very friendly and accomodating staff behind him. I especially liked the fact that he has trained the staff in every aspect of the business, from housekeeping, to invoicing to waitering, in order that they can now run the lodge. We were given the honeymoon suite which was large and beautiful, it is not luxurious but doesn't need to be as the point is for it to blend into the landscape which it does brilliantly. The rooms have everything you need, from chest of drawers to hanging rail, table and mirror, hairdriers etc.
The food was excellent and if you have breakfast a little later than usual you should see the meerkats that come and play on the rocks next to the restaurant - they are incredible. It was also nice to see Maia, the rescued Zebra who enjoys pottering aroung the lodge eating the hay roof of the swimming pool bar. The service was excellent. We went to sesriem for a morning which is about 1.5 hours away and unless you want to do the ballooning down there (and have to rise very early) then I would advise to stay here and travel to Sesriem for the day. The scenary around the Rostock Ritz is very peacfeul and relaxing and there are a number of walks that can be done from the lodge.
Chilling by the pool is fabulous as the view is wonderful.
