Zebra River Lodge review
If you want to be looked after and really expierence sincere human hospitality and an outstanding very special location go to Zebra River Lodge.
ZRL not necesserily set up to cater for children ie no high chair, cot and a dog that is definitely not child friendly.
The friendliest lodge ever in a fab location
This lodge is run by a very special couple, Marianne and Rob Field, who have become good friends over the years. They know the area intimately and pass on every bit of this knowledge to their guests.
The atmosphere is homely and very comfortable rather than luxurious. The location is stunning and is fantastic for walking. Rob is a very professional pilot and his flights over the area are special.
Friendly lodge.
Communal dinner on stoep with owners and guests a delightful experience.
Zebra River Lodge review
There is'nt much more we can say about Zebra Lodge, we had room no.9 for our longer stay this year and christmas was a delight, all Mariannes family were over from SA, how she managed the rooms and other guests was remarkable!
Rob has made big improvements to the pool area so that it is now possible eat around a very large table there. We were very happy to welcome the spectackled doormice to no.9 during our stay!
Great hospitality
We were in the room which was well above the Lodge - a wonderful spot with fantastic views and total privacy. Definately worth the walk up to it.
Rob and Marianne were tremendous hosts, making the guests feel as if they were part of the family without invading our "space". The meals were excellant.
The trip up to the spring was very well worth doing, in spite of the heat!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A great place to stay, homley staff wanting to do anything to make your stay comfortable.
Great place to begin or finish your trip but you need more than 1 night
Zebra River Lodge review
We were warmly welcomed by Marianne and imediately made to feel at home. We were extremely lucky to be given guest room number 9, built into the side of the hill - you needed to be quite fit to reach it! but once there the view and the room make it well worth the effort.
It was a very relaxing time and we were well looked after for part of the time by Neil (a friend of the family) and Jana as Marianne and Rob were away. We also enjoyed the food and the company.
We were glad that we had a high clearance vehicle to make the journey from Soussus Dune Lodge to Zebra River - Not too far in distance but hard driving.
Zebra River Lodge review
This is a charming relaxing place at which we have stayed twice before, but it's Marianne's personality that dominates it.
If she and Rob move on it will be interesting to see what happens there.
Zebra River Lodge review
Very attractive setting, lodge delightful with good views and good walks, well documented by Robert and Marianne and cairned by Neil.
Robert and Marianne very enthusiastic and helpful, food very adequate and good quality. Pool tiny and uninviting, unfortunately no fridge.
Set in wonderful surroundings
Unforgettable walking in this area. We enjoyed the challenging 5 hour canyon trail spotting mountain zebra and enjoying the views of the canyon which is only 70 metres short of the depth of Fish River Canyon so very spectacular. Convivial arrangements for eating together in the evening with excellent food, especially the home-made bread. Personal. attention from the owners and friendly, helpful staff.
We think we were especially lucky to have the room right at the top of the camp with wonderful views over the area which were especially good in the evening and at dawn.
