Relax at Zebra River Lodge

An extremely friendly place. All staff very helpful. Mac, the self-described Jack-of-all-trades, even removed a scorpion from our room! Once again, we seemed to have the best room. Wonderful food.

Sundowner trip disappointing. [ Ed: these travellers were disappointed that a sundowner trip wasn’t possible to do that day; this was because the owner, Rob, who normally conducts these trips himself, was not available! ]

Terrible drive along a very rocky road and not too much to see. Really a stop for hikers, which we are not, but we knew that in advance. Nevertheless a very relaxing stopover and we did manage a walk to Gail's cave!

Our travellers should note that Zebra River often arranges really excellent ‘sundowner’ drives in the late afternoon – but it is not guaranteed that these will always happen: sometimes, for whatever reason, they don’t!

Stunning location

Charming hosts and friendly staff. Excellent massage with Gail. Very relaxing 2 days.

Unfortunately I fell and broke my wrist on the morning of our departure. Rob and Marianne were very kind and helpful and were happy for us to extend our stay if I felt unable to travel. Decided to carry on to Desert Lodge

Zebre River Lodge is a great place to go walking – self-guided or with a guide. The owners are working on a map booklet and an overview of all the trails on the Farm at present. In the mean time if you are interested in doing some walks in the area, please do discuss this with Rob and Marianne on your arrival, and they will sit down with you and work out which walks/activities you would like to do and provide you with any applicable maps.

AMAZING SETTING AND ACCOMODATION

VERY HELPFUL WITH CAR PROBLEMS, ROB WAS INTERESTING AND A GREAT HOST.

OUR ROOM WAS GORGEOUS AND CAVE-LIKE, BUT THE OTHER WAS "NORMAL" AND THE CHILDREN FELT SHORT-CHANGED!
THE FOOD WAS AMAZING AND VERY GENEROUS.

THE TRIP TO THE SPRINGS WAS A HIGHLIGHT, BUT WE WERE CHARGED FOR 6 ADULTS, WHICH MADE IT MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WE WERE EXPECTING.

Exceptional hospitality at Zebra River

Rob and Marianne could not have been more welcoming. We were treated like friends in their home. The specially-made vegetarian food was absolutely delicious. Our room was lovely.

We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the dogs and all the staff were extremely friendly. For us the walking was fantastic - breathtaking scenery and easily-followed paths.

(If we hadn't had the massive good fortune to be upgraded to a 4x4 at the airport we would have found the approach very dodgy!)

Rob and Marianne from Zebra River have told us that they have been working on the entry road - and that more work is scheduled shortly. It's continuous process of repairing the damage done by wear and tear, and every rainy season. Hopefully that will improve it further.

That said, although the road isn't up to UK standards - they comment that it really isn't a problem in a normal saloon car if the drive is taken slowly and carefully.

A wonderful spot with terrific walking

Rob and Marianne have a truly hospitable place here. Their staff are lovely and friendly and the communal meals great fun. Many of the guests seem to be returning customers/friends! We had time for a short walk on arrival and then a day walk on the Canyon Way which was well marked and map provided. The views were spectacular and silence deafening!

Rob is so paasionate about the country and equipped us with map and route information for our onward journey as well as packed lunch.

A great start to the road trip.

Fantastic location, great walks available

Great location and scenery - fantastic for walking.

Good hospitality and communal dining enjoyable.

The walk up to the spring was really great with good scenery and some wildlife. Really good sense of isolation along the way. Would really recommend it. I would guess that all the other trails they have would be equally as good.

The only downside again would be that the room, although adequate, could do with some updating
