good first night stop at Kalahari Anib Lodge
This was an excellent, peacful first stop as it was easily reached from Windhoek on tarmac roads leaving the challenge of graded roads to after a full nights sleep.
The dinner was good and we appreciated the effort made to introduce visitors to the local language, singing and dancing. We opted for the early morning game drive which started at 6.00. We were the only people on it and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide's knowlege of the wildlife was impressive, and he also managed to fix the landrover when it ground to a halt!
The room was pleasant and clean but was surpassed by rooms later on our trip. There was the added excitement of an out of season surprise thunderstorm with spectacular lightning display.
Kalahari Anib Lodge review
Overall the best place we stayed at. Everyone very friendly & welcoming and the numerous dogs added to the homely feel. The sundowner drive good value for money, informative and at a relaxed pace.
The only possible criticism would be a bit of pressure to buy alcohol in the evenings but it was done in the most friendly & inoffensive manner - just need to be careful not to overstep the mark.
A great stopover
This was, perhaps surprisingly given its size compared to the B&Bs elsewhere, one of our best night stops. Our accommodation was well separated from that of the main tour groups, and we sat at tables for 2 at dinner and breakfast. The staff had been made well aware of my wife's dietary requirements, which were verified on arrival to ensure dinner went smoothly.
In the event, we had an excellent dinner in pleasant surroundings served by very friendly and efficient staff - clearly a well managed establishment. We did not go on any activities since this was our first stop in Namibia en route to Sossusvlei and the dunes.

Our stay at the lodge was good except I had a pair of sandals taken from outside the lodge - I had left them to dry following wearing them back from the pool - during dinner and unfortunately they did not turn up before it was time for us to leave.
The larger pool was excellent though the other did seem rather small. The meal was excellent and the atmosphere in the dining room good with all guests eating at the same time. The staff were very helpful and willing to talk about their experiences and life outside the lodge. Before the meal started the staff made a point of announcing the menu in their own languages.
Good 1st night stop.
Food was excellent, quite a performance, and they had made a real effort to provide my wife (vegetarian) with an interesting meal. Bar area was comfortable and welcoming.
A good place for the 1st overnight stop in Namibia. 1st experience of 'klick' bushmen language! We were a bit too tired to take advantage of the late afternoon game drive, after flying overnight and wandering around Windhoek for a bit, so we sat by the pool and relaxed instead.
We didn't realise there was the option of an early morning game drive next day, but it didn't matter - we saw plenty in Etosha!
We never did work out why two Sociable weaver-birds were so fascinated by one of our wing mirrors!
