Great Location

Super location! The lady who met us (not sure if it was the owner Anja?) was very relaxed and helpful. We did have a little problem where there had been a mix up with our kayaking booking in Walvis Bay (apparently we were expected the day after the date on our voucher). But Anja called both kayaking companies in Walvis Bay and got us booked on the right day.

Room was very 'German' I would say, but really nice touches.

Regarding the kayaking, this activity should be compulsory for anyone visiting the area. Wow! Naude was a great guide and the seals were just great.

Central location, great room & breakfasts

Lovely welcome from Anya, beautiful room and pretty courtyard spaces. Easy walking distance to the Tug and the Jetty. The Tug was very very disappointing - expensive, terrible food and only one of their vegetarian specialities on offer.

When we did have breakfast, it was delicious - plenty of hot options freshly cooked.

Excellent breakfast pack provided as we left at 6:45am for kayaking at Walvis Bay (highly recommended).
Pelican Point Kayaking
Excellent - a holiday highlight
This really was a great experience - Jeanne thought of everything from waterproof trousers, jackets, fleeces, shoes & gloves. An interesting journey out to the point, via the salt works, with lots of birds and a few jackals. The kayaking was safe and easy and the seals very friendly. Jeanne takes photos and videos and emails them to you later in the day - great not to have to worry about your own camera getting wet. At the end of the kayaking, nice sandwich rolls and coffee before going back.
Jeanne was great - chatty, informative and good fun.

Very Welcoming. Good place in a strange town

Arriving in Swakopmund on a murky winter evening in the mist feels a bit like arriving in a place the day after a nuclear bomb! No-one on the street. Nothing open. Chilly damp air. All a bit weird and, we believe, a pretty frequent occurrence!

Central Guest House is a welcome haven from that. Very nice rooms, good breakfast and very helpful service. Excellent wifi.

Central Guest House is a great place to stay

As the name suggests, the guest house is Central - very convenient for walking into town in a matter of minutes.

Nadine made us very welcome and did everything possible to make our stay very pleasant.

Best packed lunch of the trip.

We ate one dinner at The Tug which was first class - we had booked a table before leaving UK which was necessary as the place was heaving.

We also had a meal at the Western ???? - not recommended. They had Crayfish on the menu which I ordered - they had tried to cook it from frozen and it was still cold and, knowing that a very upset stomach would result, I returned it uneaten. The very pleasant waitress showed no surprise and said that it was frozen because it was out of season!

A clean, comfortable and well run hotel

This modern small hotel provides everything that you need with secure parking and clean comfortable rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great.

The position of the hotel is a bit dull and there is only a tiny garden, but it is an easy walk to the centre of town and the shops and not far from the sea front.

Central Guest House review

Central Guest House turned out to be what we expected--adequate to very good room and facilities. The breakfast was very good including cooked eggs and bacon with lots of choice, The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful, advising us as to where to go and what to do. Good location a five minute walk to the central down town.

We walked around town several times and drove to Walvis Bay as well. Overall we did not see much reason to return with a group. We spent an entire day on a drive through the Namib desert park and enjoyed that very much. But given the 6 hour drive from Windhoek and the 6 hour drive to Kalala Desert Camp, we are not sure how to make it work to include Swampkomund.
