A very well run guest house. Possibly slightly impersonal compared to others.

Central Guest House review

Nice place & budget-friendly too.

Anya & other staff members were very helpful & answered all questions. They helped us book dinners couple of times on Saturday calling around.

Great breakfast which they will serve quite early for you if you tell them the night before.

Whilst here, we arranged for a day-trip for these travellers to Sandwich Harbour. They commented:

Excellent.
The tour to experience Sandwich Harbour was an EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE! This place is beautiful & Turnstone goes out of their way to make this a memorable visit. One thing to keep in mind is that you have to get up early in the morning to be able to get into Sandwich Harbour before high tide cuts out access... Sea level changes & Turnstone called us the night before saying they will pick us up at 6:30am rather than 8am next morning. But then again, the best time of day in Namibia IS early morning & late evening so you get used to getting up early.

We also organised a kayaking excursion from Pelican Point. They wrote about this:

Excellent.
It was fun! Who'd think that fur seals, so passive ashore, would be so playful in the water. We did couple hours of light kayaking not leaving the Pelican Point lagoon due to expected high wind. This was an easy exercise & it was very nice to be in the water for a change. Jean is great too.

Central Guest House review

We enjoyed our stay at Central. They gave us a room not in the main house, but just off the carpark. Plusses were that it was a very large 2 bedroom with a huge soaking tub and we only had to carry our luggage a couple of steps. Minuses were that the room had ants and was drafty. To use the wifi we had to go around the back of the house and use a key to go into the house. However a plus was that the lady of the house offered me a glass of sherry while I was catching up on my emails. Breakfast was lovely.

A good night's sleep!

I personally appreciated sleeping for a couple of nights in Swakopmund's non-wilderness setting.

The manager of the guest house was very friendly. She helped us settle in, provided advice regarding our scheduled plans, and helped us with restaurant recommendations and arranging the reservations.

The room was very clean and comforable. The breakfast was also excellent. We truly enjoyed our stay at this b&b.
The restaurant that was recommended to us was "The Jetty", at the pier on the seaside. Very worth the visit as well.

Expert Africa arranged an excursion kayaking from Pelican Point for these travellers. They commented:

The most relaxing part of our trip!

We were both a bit stressed about doing this activity at first, but motivated each other into doing it as "if we're already all the way here, we better do all these things that we will not be able to do once we leave!".
Best. Decision. Ever.

It is amazing to be so close to the sea lions and see them just splash around and play with you. We were not lucky enough to see dolphins close by (we saw them some 50 meters away), but what we did was still enough to make it the most relaxing experience of the whole trip (and one of the most ever, in my case at least). The light sport, the sea, and being so "in the middle of it" seeing the wild sea lions playfully interact with you was just fantastic.

Take a camera with you (a small, inexpensive one that you won't be so stressed about if it gets a bit wet). You will want to remember that moment.

Personal recommendation, we arranged at the last minute to combine this activity with a 4x4 drive to Sandwich Harbor. Also worth it! It's a great activity, with action (quite a fun bumpy ride in the 4x4 in the dunes and the beach), great views of the dunes meeting the sea, and a VERY nice lunch in the middle of the dunes.
