Monteiro's Hornbill Fly-in Safari

Stay in four of Namibia’s most famous environments on this fly-in safari. It would be hard to pack more variety into a trip of the same length.

Monteiro's Hornbill Fly-in Safari: Summary

Monteiro's Fly-in Safari in a nutshell

Looking to get off the beaten track on a fly-in safari to some of Namibia’s wildest corners? This could be the trip for you. Staying at four properties owned and run by the same company you’ll benefit from the same high levels of service and comfort throughout while experiencing four very different locations.

Flying allows you to cover a greater distance in less time than a self-drive or guided trip: great for those short on time. It also gives access to locations out of reach road-going travellers. There is no other way to combine the mighty dunes of the Namib-Naukluft with the desolate beauty of the Skeleton Coast and the remote beauty of the Hoanib Valley on such a short trip. Throw in the wildlife of the Etosha Heights Reserve and this trip includes a unique cross-section of Namibia’s famed variety.

For the best value, this trip runs on set-departure dates, arriving in Namibia on a Saturday. This said, we can arrange trips arriving any day of the week but in such cases there may be a supplement and potentially some subtle alterations .

Weinberg Hotel

Day 1

The Weinberg Hotel, formerly known as Am Weinberg Boutique Hotel, is an understated but upmarket hotel in a quiet suburb of Klein Windhoek, within a short drive of the centre of the Namibian capital. Set on an established estate that was originally a vineyard, it is contemporary in style with plenty of facilities, yet at its heart is the original estate house, now a national monument.

Kwessi Dunes

Days 2-4

Kwessi Dunes is a new property in the northern NamibRand Reserve, opened in 2020. While information on what to expect here is sparse, we have known the company behind the lodge for a long time and have every faith that this will be a wonderful new offering set in one of Namibia most spectacular landscapes.

Hoanib Valley Camp

Days 4-6

Located on the border of the old administrative districts of Damaraland and Kaokoland, Hoanib Valley Camp is in one of Namibia’s most remote and untouched wilderness areas. The ancient mountains, gravel plains and dunes that define the area are home to some of the country’s most elusive desert-adapted wildlife, while the camp offers an oasis of luxury for its guests.

Skeleton Coast Shipwreck Lodge

Days 6-8

Skeleton Coast Shipwreck Lodge – often referred to simply as Shipwreck Lodge – lies just inland of the Atlantic Coast, at the mouth of the Hoarusib River in Namibia’s wild and mysterious Skeleton Coast National Park. Opened in 2018, the lodge offers an oasis of warmth and comfort in desolate and otherworldly surroundings.

Safarihoek Lodge

Days 8-10

Set on a hill within a private reserve, Safarihoek looks across a small waterhole towards Etosha National Park. Also marketed as Etosha Heights Safarihoek Lodge, and opened in its current form in 2016, it’s a smart, contemporary place from which to explore the 600km², wildlife-rich Etosha Heights Reserve, which shares a 65km fence with Namibia's premier wildlife park.
