The Elegant Guesthouse review
Very comfortable room and friendly people. Good location and easy to find. We'd stay there again.
Had wonderful squid at Luigi's and the Fish, about five minutes by taxi from the guesthouse.
The Elegant Guesthouse review
Just as good as at the start of the trip. [Ed: see their first review, below]

A fine place to spend the night while in Windhoek. Conveniently close to Joe's Beerhouse and easy to reach from the airport.
Parking area can be tight if the place is full and a lot of the guests drive 4x4's.
The staff was very willing to help us with any questions or requests (e.g. stamps, checking in for flights, etc).
The Elegant Guesthouse review
Very helpful staff who gave really useful advice, including booking restaurant, where to get petrol, food etc.
Guest house comfortable and clean with a peaceful atmosphere.
Excellent breakfast, including being able to get this on the morning we arrived very early which was very convenient.

We were given a very warm welcome and guesthouse worked really well for an overnight in Windhoek prior to flying home

The Elegant Guesthouse review
Easy to find. Relaxing; attractive design; pleasant service. Excellent breakfast.
Taxi £5 each way to Joe's Bar, which had good food.
Ideal overnight preparation stop
Easy to find from airport and located just out side of Windhoek centre. (we were advised to taxi in or self drive in; this was no problem.)
A warm welcome and very helpful and friendly service
Ideal stop to anticipate the journey ahead.
Plenty of places to eat in town. Joe's Bar is worth it
Overnight - Windhoek's The Elegant Guesthouse
The Elegant Guesthouse is a beautiful guesthouse with lovely rooms. However, it is not a convenient location. We understand that Windhoek can be a risky place for tourists, and possibly not many areas are considered safe for visitors. We had to sign a waiver of liability since we wanted to walk from the guesthouse (as opposed to taking a taxi). The woman at reception when we checked in was not at all friendly or helpful.
There really wasn't much choice of places to eat dinner in the area. Basically, it was just a place to stay until our fligh to Botswana the next morning.
The Elegant Guesthouse review
The receptionist was not (Lisel?) was not paricularly genuine or pleasant. It was cold and noisy.
Breakfast was good and the woman manning the desk when we left was very pleasant.
It was looking a bit shabby and I would not recommend it.
Expert Africa comments
The owner of the Elegant Guesthouse corresponded with these guests through us to find out more about their comments. He was keen to rectify any issues as swiftly as possible and has already taken steps to ensure that he and his staff learn from this experience. The guests told us that a panel at the reception was loose giving the guesthouse a ‘shabby’ feel. The owner of Elegant Guesthouse explains that this was knocked out by someone’s knee accidentally and that they were just awaiting the joiner to fix it at the time. These guests went on to tell us that although they felt the guesthouse was noisy, they realise that this was partly the product of a town accommodation in comparison to the more remote safari camps that they had stayed at previously and during the rest of their trip. The owner explained to us that his aim is to have a guesthouse that is one of the best in Windhoek with a well thought out an modern décor, offering excellent service. He appreciates that these guests feedback on their stay and will use these comments to help him achieve this.
