An excellent lodge and spa
It was very good to be out of Windhoek on our first night in Namibia (and frankly, it would have been even better if we had stayed two nights at Gocheganas to recover from the long journey. Lovely big chalets. Good massages and pedicures (although manicure did not last long !).

We always love the accommodation here and the friendly, informative staff. The facilities tick all the boxes for the final days of a trip. Seeing giraffes and other wildlife as we walked around the reserve ourselves is always a delight and the pool and gym facilities are welcome.
The food is always enjoyable but the offering of a made to order 'stir fry' for our last night (because the lodge only had a few guests there was no dinner menu as such) was disappointing and seemed a bit 'lazy' and simple.
Unwanted at the Elegant Farmstead
We were not originally planned to stay here but did so as Elegant Farmstead ‘bumped’ us at the very last moment. We’re now glad they did!
You will be greeted at the gate to the property by the friendliest gate-keeper we have ever met and he will wave you off frantically when you leave. Gocheganas is set on the top of a hill 5km from the gate; you leave your car at the bottom and are driven up to the top. Suites are beautiful with enormous bed, sitting area with TV (Martin found the rugby immediately) and huge bathroom with a ‘bath with a view’. Private decks provide wonderful views of the valley and hills around.
Food was excellent as were all staff we encountered.
We took an evening game drive with Ambrosius. Whilst the reserve is not huge it holds a good number of animals and we were fortunate enough to get a great Mummy and Baby rhino sighting. Compared to other lodges the drive was very good value.
Gocheganas would make a good first or last night stop as, if you turn right on leaving the gate, ther’s a quick back way to the airport.

Excellent service, food etc. Lovely room.

We'd saved this as a pampering stop at the end of our holiday. Sadly our plans went awry when unseasonally late rains on the day of our arrival meant a flash river cut off Gocheganas from the roads - preventing our early arrival
The staff at Wilderness Safaris and Gocheganas were very helpful (Wilderness let us park their car overnight in their compound, whilst Gocheganas came and got us in an ex-military amphibous truck when big 4x4s could cross the river).
When we finally got to the Lodge, the staff were welcoming and the rooms and facilities were amazing!!! We didn't get to indulge in any pampering but it looked to be popular and worth treating yourself.
There looked to be plenty of wildlife - we could see giraffes on the hills from our room and an oryx was contentedly munching the flowers by our front door - and the scenery was amazing with great panoramic views.

Wonderful final two nights. Lucky enough to be given the Crown suite with huge deck and separate lounge room. Lovely furnishings and facilities in the bed and bath rooms.
Fabulous full board food and delightful service from very friendly staff. The personable manager was very much in evidence and hands .
Enjoyed the self guided walk several times (a bit limiting that there is only one marked route) and it was good to see rhino and giraffe on foot. Lovely elevated position with great views of the bush and wildlife below and we are looking forward to our third visit already.
The spa complex is well maintained and attractive and the quality of treatments from very professional staff, high. The gym equipment is a bonus.
Relaxing stay in Gocheganas
The service was excellent - everyone was helpful and friendly. We were offered free 'Honeymoon Crystal Bath' - which was a very kind and nice gesture! We unfortunately had to cancel this as we also wanted to do some mountain biking. We had managed to get Little Kulala to book our massages the day before, but it might be worth mentioning to guests that they should book massages etc a few days before to ensure you get to all you want to!
Food was very good and it was an great stop over. but we probably would not spend more than a night.
The rooms had fantastic views and had everything we needed but were 'functional' - however we were were now comparing to Little Kulala!
Gocheganas Wellness Village review
A perfect place to finish a trip (or perhaps even to begin one). It is an hour's drive to the airport and the spa offers all the relaxation you could want.
The game reserve also has a lot of animals and is great for walking or mountain biking. It has more of a hotel feel to it than a lodge feel.
The rooms were nice but unfortunately on the first night our room was infested with insects, Gocheganas were obviously aware of the issue and as soon as we complained they moved us to a different room.
Gocheganas Wellness Village review
A very good place to wind down before out flight home.
