Then fly on to Zanzibar and stay at
Fumba Beach Lodge for a further five nights. This is a lovely intimate lodge that sits within the Menai Conservation Area – an area where the varied and pristine marine life is protected. For your last two nights, stop in Stone Town at a new boutique hotel – the
Swahili House. This trip visits two very different, but top-rated wildlife destinations.
Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled British Airways flies overnight directly to Dar es Salaam.

Landing early in Dar es Salaam, you'll be met and transferred round to the domestic terminal which is only a short 5-minuts drive away. You will then connect onto a light aircraft to Beho Beho airstrip in the Selous Game Reserve. This flight is only about 40 minutes, and upon arrival in the Selous you'll be met by one of the camp guides and driven for less than 5 minutes to... |
| Beho Beho (full board & activities) |
| Spend five nights at Beho Beho, probably the best camp in the Selous, where you can enjoy game drives and walking safaris led by top-notch professional guides. Stay in one of the luxurious rooms, which along with the swimming pool and main lodge, overlook a stunning verdant valley. If you're feeling brave, take up the option to venture away from the camp for a 'Bush Night', where you can dine with the guide beside the campfire, and listen to the sounds of the surrounding wildlife. |
On your last morning in the Selous, catch a 90-minute flight to the spice island of Zanzibar. This island is steeped in history and is a melting pot of the different cultures that have ruled here over the years. Though as well as being a historical spot - it also has stunning beaches, turquoise waters and diverse marine life! On arrival at the airport, a car will meet you and transfer you for 30 minutes to… |
| Fumba Beach Lodge (full board & activities) |
| Spend a further five nights here, exploring the Menai Conservation Area by boat and enjoying the superb diving and snorkeling that lies a short way off shore. The corals and marine life are well protected, and as a result they are pristine here. You can also use Fumba as a base to do some of the various day trips on offer on Zanzibar – learn more about the history of the spice trade on a guided spice tour. Or perhaps visit Jozani Forest, home to the endemic Kirk's red colobus monkey. |
A 45-minute car ride will take you from the beach to Stone Town – the old quarter of Zanzibar's capital. Built during the nineteenth century, a number of beautifully renovated merchants houses sit in amongst the labyrinth of alleyways and many have been converted into boutique hotels such as … |
| Swahili House (bed & breakfast) |
| Spend two nights exploring this vibrant and historical town, that has been awarded World Heritage Site status. The history here is fascinating and a day spent wondering around can lead you to old mosques, the towns old fort, museums and a church with slave-caves hidden beneath it. Though Stone Town is busy and a little untidy, it has bags of character and an exotic atmosphere that shouldn't be missed. |
