Bateleur fly-in

This classic fly-in trip spends 7 nights in Namibia, and is the base for many longer itineraries; it includes a short stop in the capital, Windhoek; the great dunes of the Namib Desert; the mountains of Damaraland; and the superb game-viewing in Etosha – using excellent camps throughout.

Day 1
Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled South African Airways flight flies you via Johannesburg overnight to Windhoek, where you land early in the afternoon.

Day 2 Windhoek, Namibia
Olive Grove On arrival, you'll be met and driven for about 45 minutes to your guest house. Your day is then your own: to spend by the pool or explore the city. The centre of Windhoek is very close, so it's easy to get a taxi and very pleasant to explore for a few hours. This short stop spends only 1 night here which enables you to relax and ensures that you are ready for your safari. You'll stay at –
Olive Grove (bed & breakfast)

Days 3-4 Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia
Kulala Desert Lodge After a short transfer to the airport, you have a superb light aircraft flight to the desert. This passes right over the escarpment, and drops down to the Namib Desert; there's no better way of appreciating Namibia's amazing scenery than from the air. Your base for the next 2 nights to explore the Namib's breathtaking Sossusvlei area is –
Kulala Desert Lodge (full board & activities)

Days 5-6 Damaraland, Namibia
Damaraland Camp Leaving the Sossusvlei area, you fly over the Namib's most spectacular dunes, along the coast to Swakopmund. There you disembark for a short drive to Walvis Bay and a boat trip around the lagoon, in search of dolphins, seals, and the area's outstanding birdlife. After a private picnic on the beach, continue flying over the Skeleton Coast to Damaraland. Here you stay for 2 nights at –
Damaraland Camp (full board & activities)
Your time here includes activities, usually drives in open 4x4 vehicles with specialist guides in search of resident game, as well as stunning mountain walks. Note that although Damaraland Camp is noted above, this itinerary may include Doro Nawas (with full board & similar activities) instead.

Days 7-8 Etosha National Park, Namibia
Ongava Tented Camp Flying out of Damaraland usually affords a great view of the camp, perched on the edge of the huge valley of the Huab River. Your plane then heads northeast, and climbs above the central highlands before dropping down to land on the south side of Etosha. Here you'll enjoy guided game drives in open 4WDs in the national park, and the adventurous can track white rhino on foot on the private reserve. You'll stay for 2 nights at –
Ongava Tented Camp (full board & activities)
Note that although Ongava Tented Camp is noted above, this itinerary may include Ongava Lodge (with full board & activities) instead.

Day 9
After two spectacular days exploring Ongava's private reserve, and the spectacular Etosha National Park, you'll fly southwards along Namibia's rolling central highlands, arriving at Windhoek Airport in good time to connect to your scheduled overnight flight back to the UK with South African Airways.

Day 10
You arrive back in London Heathrow early in the morning, making connecting to other flights, or travel back to your home in the UK, very easy. With a minimal time difference between Namibia and the UK, there's seldom any real jet lag – at the end of such a magical holiday.
