Bateleur fly-in



This classic Namibia fly-in trip spends 7 nights in country exploring the key highlights. The itinerary can either be booked as is or used as the basis for a longer safari. It includes a short stop in the capital, Windhoek; the incredible sand dunes of the Namib Desert; the mountainous scenery of Damaraland; and superb game-viewing in Etosha National Park – staying at excellent camps throughout.

Day 1
Depart from London Heathrow on your scheduled South African Airways flight via Johannesburg to Windhoek, where you land the following day.

Day 2 Windhoek, Namibia
Olive Grove On arrival at Windhoek Airport you'll be met and transferred by road to your guesthouse in one of Windhoek's leafy suburbs. The rest of the day is free to spend as you wish, maybe relaxing by the pool or exploring the city. The centre of Windhoek is about 5 minutes' drive away and it's easy to arrange a shuttle or taxi service with the guesthouse. Days 3-4 Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia
Little Kulala After a short road transfer to Windhoek's local Eros Airport, you'll board a light aircraft for a superb scenic flight to the desert. This passes right over the escarpment and down to the Namib Desert - you can really appreciate the vast beauty of Namibia's landscapes from the air. Days 5-6 Damaraland, Namibia
Damaraland Camp It's a spectacular scenic flight today, first over the expansive Namib Desert and along the coast to Swakopmund where you land to re-fuel. Then continue flying up the Skeleton Coast and inland to reach Damaraland. This area is renowned for its dramatic landscapes and free-roaming wildlife, including the elusive desert-adapted elephant that traverse the ephemeral river valleys during the dry season. Days 7-8 Etosha National Park, Namibia
Ongava Tented Camp From Damaraland you fly north-east over Namibia's Central Highlands before coming in to land on the southern edge of Etosha National Park. There's plenty of wildlife to be seen on guided game drives in open 4WD vehicles into Etosha Park and within the private Ongava Game Reserve. Sightings may include giraffe, lion, zebra, hyena, leopard, warthog, jackal, elephant, rhino, cheetah and a variety of antelope species. Day 9
After two exciting days of game viewing in the Ongava Reserve and Etosha National Park, you'll fly south back to Windhoek Airport in good time to check-in for your scheduled overnight flight back to the UK with South African Airways.

Arrive back at London Heathrow this morning after your unforgettable fly-in safari through Namibia's key highlights.

  • This itinerary can be tailor-made to suit you – though note that most flight routes travel in a clockwise direction around Namibia's main highlights. You can opt to add nights at the existing lodges and/or extend the itinerary to include more Namibian highlights such as Swakopmund on the coast, Serra Cafema in the north-west and Okonjima on the way back to Windhoek.
  • This fly-in safari usually includes the classic camp Kulala Desert Lodge whilst in the Namib Desert. This year guests will automatically be upgraded to the luxurious premier camp Little Kulala (subject to availability), as noted in the above itinerary, at no additional charge! However, if you'd prefer to stay at Kulala Desert Lodge please speak to us to arrange this.
  • This safari usually visits Damaraland Camp and Ongava Tented Camp but these may be substituted for Desert Rhino Camp and Ongava Lodge, subject to availability at the time of booking.

This itinerary includes:
  • Economy flights between London Heathrow and Windhoek (via Johannesburg), plus airport departure taxes.
  • All transfers in Namibia, including light aircraft flights as described and airport transfers.
