Bee-eater safari



Enjoy a fantastic safari, including 2 nights fly-camping in Tarangire National Park and 2 nights in a more established tented camp; you'll stay in one of Tanzania's most famous but lesser visited and quiet parks, taking four days to explore the area thoroughly and enjoying a real wilderness experience.

After your safari, if you want to relax on the beach, then add one of our beach add-on trips to Zanzibar, Pemba, Ras Kutani or the Mafia Archipelago, to your itinerary.

Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on you scheduled, British Airways overnight flight to Dar es Salaam Airport.

Days 2-3 Tarangire National Park, Tanzania
Oliver's Camp On arrival you will catch a light flight to Arusha Airport where you will be met by a superior guide. Ahead is a beautiful drive: you pass through rural Tanzania, passing numerous villages along the way before you arrive at Tarangire National and start your game drive. Oliver's Camp (full board)
Spend 2 nights exploring the area around the camp which is in the quieter southern part of this park. There aren't as many restrictions in Tarangire as there are in other Tanzanian national parks, so along with game drives, it is also possible to experience safari walks.

Days 4-5 Tarangire National Park, Tanzania
After breakfast you will walk out of the main camp with your superior guide. Spend the morning, learning about the smaller things that are easily missed when you are in a vehicle. After you have been walking for about 3 – 4 hours, you will arrive at the exclusive….
Oliver's Fly-Camp
This comfortable fly-camp is set up specially for your use. As you are not staying within the confines of a camp, there is a true wilderness feel to your safari experience. The camp will be fully set up for you so all you have to do is enjoy the vast landscape of northern Tanzania and the sounds of the wildlife passing by. After a bush dinner, you will be able to appreciate the beauty of the African night sky from your tent!

Day 6
After breakfast, head back to Kilimanjaro Airport where you can either continue onto one of our beach add-on trips, or check into a day room at a nearby lodge before connecting with you return overnight British Airways flight to London.

Day 7
Arrive back at London Heathrow early in the morning, with plenty of time to catch onward connections home.

This itinerary includes:
  • Economy flights, as above, plus UK airport departure taxes.
  • All transfers in Africa.
  • A comprehensive pack of information covering the places that you'll be visiting.
  • Current park fees for Serengeti National Park.
  • Most drinks are included at the camps – except champagne and premium/imported wines and spirits.
  • Guided safari activities – usually one in the morning and one in the late afternoon.
  • A complementary copy of the Bradt Travel Guide to Zanzibar, Pemba & Mafia.


This itinerary excludes:
  • Tanzanian domestic departure taxes.
  • Tips and gratuities, which are optional.
  • As with all of our trips, you need to organise your own visas. Currently (Jan 2012) holders of British passports do need a visa for Tanzania, which can be obtained through the Tanzanian High Commission in London prior to travel.
