This lovely beach add-on trip spends 6 nights at Benguerra Lodge on Benguerra Island in Mozambique's Bazaruto Archipelago, including flights to/from Johannesburg; it is perfect to add onto one of our safaris to Botswana, or our trips to Namibia or Zambia – staying at a quiet and private place to relax at the end of a safari.

The flights from Johannesburg to Vilanculos (in Mozambique), which are very much a part of this trip, depart in the morning. Hence most travellers overnight at a hotel in Johannesburg before this trip – and many will transfer directly through to international flights at the end of it.

Your scheduled flight from Johannesburg to Mozambique, with Pelican Air, usually leaves at about 10:20 in the morning. Days 2-6 Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique

Staying at Benguerra Lodge for total of six nights, your open-sided bungalow is slightly set back from the beach, in lush vegetation – it's a great spot to relax. You'll also have access to Benguerra's well-equipped water-sports centre, where many activities are complementary – and first-class PADI diving, snorkelling and big game fishing are also available (payable locally).

After your last morning's leisurely breakfast, you'll hop by plane back to Vilanculos – arriving there around 13:00. Your flight to Johannesburg usually departs at about 14:00, and then arrives in O.R. Tambo Airport (Johannesburg International) at about 16:30 – in great time to connect with overnight flights back to Europe.

This itinerary includes:

• Return economy flights between Johannesburg and Vilanculos, on the coast of Mozambique.
• Transfers by air and road between Vilanculos and Benguerra Lodge. (Typically this is a 10-minute flight, and then a 10-minute 4WD-ride to the lodge.)
• Three meals per day, soft drinks, most alcoholic drinks, teas and coffees.


• Activities: dhow cruises, sea-kayaking, LandRover trips (for island tours & picnics), bird-watching trips, and cast-away picnics.

This itinerary excludes:

• Mozambique domestic departure taxes.
  
• Scuba-diving, fishing, yacht trips and spa treatments – all of which are paid for locally.
• Benguerra Lodge is within a National Marine Park; the fee for entry to this is US$10 per person, payable locally.
