Bushpig safari



This safari begins in the north of Malawi where you spend 2 nights on the remote Nyika Plateau, then flying over to Likoma Island for 3 nights before ending at Liwonde National Park which borders glistening Lake Malawi and is a hotspot for bird watching for the last 2 nights.After your safari, if you want to relax by the lake, then add one of our lake add-on trips

Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on your scheduled overnight flight with South African Airways to Lilongwe Airport, via Johannesburg.

Day 2 Nyika Plateau, Malawi

Day 3
After a leisurely breakfast you'll be taken out to explore Nyika possibly seeing roan, reedbuck, zebra and eland. The plateau is also rich with endemic herbs and heathers as well as delphiniums, lobelias and over 200 species of orchid.

Days 5-6
Your time here can be spent relaxing on the beach or exploring the islands secluded coves and beaches by boat. The lodge has its own dive centre with excellent diving and snorkelling equipment as well as a speedboat for waterskiing, kayaks and paddle-skis.

Day 7 Liwonde National Park, Malawi

Mvuu Wilderness Lodge (full board & activities)
This luxury lodge is situated in the north-west of this lush and tropical park. Explore the park either during the day or at night in a 4WD vehicle or on guided walking safaris. Alternatively, spend time relaxing on the water as you take in the sights and sounds of the Shire River by boat.

Day 8
After a leisurely breakfast, relax on your private deck viewing the game that come to drink from the river. Along the banks of the Shire River are the plains and forests of the park which are home to herds of elephant and abundant birdlife, including species from both Eastern and Southern Africa. Amongst others, Boehm's bee-eater, the palmnut vulture and Pel's fishing owl have all been spotted in the park.

Day 9
After your final morning on safari, leave the park and transfer to Lilongwe Airport and then continue onto one of our beach add-on trips or connect with your overnight South African Airways flight to London.

Day 10
After a wonderful safari, you arrive at London Heathrow early in the morning with plenty of time to make any onward connections home.
