This safari, focuses on perhaps the most famous camp in southern Tanzania's Selous Game Reserve; promising a most relaxing 5 nights at Sand Rivers Camp, which includes superb guiding for the walking safaris, 4WD game drives and boat trips to explore the Rufiji River – and includes an option to spend one or two nights fly-camping out in the wilds.

Day 1

Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled overnight flight with British Airways flies directly to Dar es Salaam.

Days 2-6 Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania

Landing early in Dar es Salaam, you are met and transferred to the domestic terminal for your connection with a light aircraft to Kiba airstrip in the Selous Game Reserve. This flight is about 50 minutes, and upon arriving in the Selous you'll be driven for 15 minutes to...

Sand Rivers Camp (full board & activities)

You usually arrive in time for an excellent lunch, before going out for your afternoon activity. Your 5 nights here include activities with a high standard of guiding, which include 4x4 game drives, boat trips and walking safaris.

Day 7

After your last morning on safari, you fly by light aircraft to Dar es Salaam, and then either overnight in the city prior to connecting with your early-morning British Airways flight to London, or continue onto one of our beach add-on trips to Zanzibar, or further afield.

The cost of upgrading a night at Sand Rivers to a night fly-camping is £96 per person per night in 2008. After your safari, if you want to add on a beach holiday, then it's easy and can be relatively inexpensive. Our beach holidays in Zanzibar are designed as possible suggestions, and we also have trips to Pemba and relaxing beach holidays to Mafia. All are tailor-made and can be altered to suit you. If you only have a couple of days, then consider adding into your trip one of our short beach breaks at Ras Kutani - a lovely spot on the mainland coast.

This itinerary includes:
• Economy flights as above, plus all UK and Tanzania international departure and passenger service taxes.
• All domestic transfers in Africa.
• The current park fees for your time in the national parks - U$75 per person per night for Selous.
• All your meals and safari activities at Sand Rivers. They usually organise two activities per day – one in the morning and one in the late afternoon, and these include 4WD game drives, boat trips and walks in Selous Game Reserve.
• Most drinks are included at Sand Rivers (including all soft drinks, house wines and local beers & spirits – but excluding champagne, vintage wine and certain imported spirits).
