Flufftail safari

This safari uses a combination of a good value permanent camp and two fantastic luxury semi-permanent camps as bases to explore famous areas of the northern circuit; travelling with your own knowledgeable superior guide in a private 4WD safari vehicle is also best way to make the most Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and central Serengeti National Park; then safari with the excellent guides based at the more remote Sayari Mara Camp.

Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on your scheduled overnight flight with Kenya Airways to Nairobi in Kenya.

Days 2-4 Ngorongoro Crater & Conservation Area, Tanzania
Lemala Ngorongoro Arriving early in the morning it's a simple matter to connect with your onward flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha. Here you will be met by you own private superior guide and 4WD safari vehicle with a pop-top roof allowing for optimum game viewing. Together you'll leave the bustling town or Arusha behind and drive through rural Tanzania on your way to…
Lemala Ngorongoro (full board & activities)
Spend one of your full days based here exploring the beautiful Ngorongoro Crater which has extraordinary numbers of game and spectacular scenery. Then, on your second full day, head to the lesser known Empakaai Crater. Although smaller than Ngorongoro, this smaller crater certainly rivals is more famous counterpart with its spectacular scenery and amazing views. There is a smattering of wildlife to be found here but Empakaai Crater is better suited to walking with cool forest paths and trails around a soda lake which is often filled with flamingos. This excursion is usually bypassed by most visitors to northern Tanzania which makes it a quiet, off-beat and rewarding day trip.

Days 5-7 Serengeti Migration Area, Tanzania
Dunia Camp Leave Lemala Camp after an early breakfast and drive right round the Ngorongoro Crater rim before descending onto communal lands where wildlife resides alongside Maasai tribespeople. It is possible to take a small detour to visit the renowned archaeological site of Oldupai Gorge and the interesting museum here. Crossing into Serengeti National Park later in the day your game viewing begins in earnest as you make your way towards...
Dunia Camp (full board & activities)
As you are exploring this area of the Serengeti Plains with your own safari guide and in a private vehicle you have the flexibility to arrange each day to suit you. You might head out on an all day safari – exploring far from camp and stopping when you feel like it for a picnic lunch. Or enjoy a more leisurely day, starting with a morning drive, taking time to relax in camp then heading out again in the late afternoon.

Days 8-11 Serengeti Migration Area, Tanzania
Sayari Mara Camp Departing early and taking a packed lunch with you means that you can drive to northern Serengeti at leisure, taking your time to enjoy any wildlife sightings along the way. Few vehicles venture this far north, so you can usually enjoy having this wilderness area pretty much all to yourselves. In about August, the great migration usually passes through this area so, during this time, you'll pass large grazing herds on your way to…
Sayari Mara Camp (full board & activities)
Sayari Mara Camp is one of the most northerly camps in the Serengeti National Park and for many its remoteness is its real draw. This fairly luxurious tented camp is only a short game drive away from the Mara River. From about August through to October the migration can be seen in this area and so you'll be well located to see large herds crossing the river surrounded by an air of frenzied excitement.

Day 12
After bidding farewell to Sayari Mara Camp you will be driven to a nearby airstrip to catch a light aircraft flight back to Arusha. From here, either continue on to one of our beach trips in Zanzibar, Pemba, Ras Kutani or the Mafia Archipelago, or catch your scheduled flight back to Nairobi and on to the UK with Kenya Airways.

Day 13
Arrive back in London early in the morning after an amazing safari including some of northern Tanzania's famous wildlife spectacles and some of the country's less visited attractions.
