Lesser kudu safari
This short but adventurous safari in southern Tanzania leap-frog's the more commonly visited Selous Game Reserve, and instead heads further inland to the more remote Ruaha National Park. There you'll stay for five memorable nights at Mwagusi Camp, a classic old-style safari camp that run by its legendary owner, Chris Fox. Chris's passion for the area, its wildlife and environment and its people makes this camp a very authentic choice for a real safari.

Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled overnight British Airways flight heads directly to Dar es Salaam. (See our comments on flights to Tanzania for more information on the flight options for your trip.) |
Landing early in Dar es Salaam, you'll be met and transferred to the domestic terminal to connect to a light aircraft for Ruaha. This flight typically takes up to three hours, usually including a couple of brief stops at bush airstrips in the Selous, and allows a great view for the topography of the country. Arriving in Ruaha's Msembe Airstrip, open 4WD and guide will meet you before an hour's drive though the park to camp – |

After your last morning on safari, you fly to Dar es Salaam, and then either continue onto one of our beach add-on trips to Zanzibar, or further afield, or overnight in the city prior to connecting with your early-morning British Airways flight to London. |

Ideas for add-on trips: Adding a few days of beach relaxation to this safari is easy; we have lots of ideas! An easy addition would be a beach on Zanzibar, although for a quieter island, with great diving and snorkelling, consider our ideas for beach holidays on Mafia. Alternatively, continue your trip at a stunning private islands in northern Mozambique. Our beach holidays to Quirimbas Archipelago include some wonderfully remote and very beautiful private islands. At the other end of the scale, for a very short addition, consider two or three days by the coast. Our trips to Ras Kutani include minimal travel as it's only an hour's drive (or 10 minutes' flight) south of Dar! |
