Lovebird safari

During this great value safari you explore three very different parks within Northern Tanzania with your own superior guide and private 4WD; visit the famous World Heritage Site of the Ngorongoro Crater, spend 2 nights in the spectacular Serengeti National Park and spend a day exploring the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park, as well as experiencing something of the local culture.

Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on your scheduled overnight flight with British Airways to Dar es Salaam.

Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater & Conservation Area, Tanzania
Bougainvillea Safari Lodge On arrival in Dar es Salaam, transfer to the domestic terminal where you will catch a light flight up to Arusha. Your superior guide meets you here in a private 4x4 safari vehicle, and your safari starts with a fascinating drive through rural Tanzania until you reach…..
Bougainvillea Safari Lodge (full board & activities)
Bougainvillea is a quaint and very good value lodge in the heart of the small town of Karatu. It is ideally located for visits to the Ngorongoro Crater – being only an one hour drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive mid-afternoon, early enough to take a walk around this bustling little centre and see something of daily life in Tanzania.

Days 3-4 Serengeti Migration Area, Tanzania
Ndutu Safari Lodge Leave early for a full day in the Ngorongoro Crater. Before its collapse, it was one of the world's tallest mountains. The caldera it left now measures roughly 19km across and about 600metres in depth. There is a large soda lake, grasslands and forests. Look out for black rhino, lion, cheetah and hyena. The animals are used to safari vehicles which allows you photo opportunities at close range. In the afternoon, leave the Crater and drive down onto the plains of the great Serengeti National Park. You pass traditional Maasai villages nestled in amongst the grassy slopes which are dotted with wildlife, before arrive at your base for the next 2 nights
Ndutu Safari Lodge
Explore the vast short-grass plains which cover the southern Serengeti. This open area is alive with grazing game throughout most of the year, though between January and early April when the migration is in the southern Serengeti, the game viewing is spectacular. Your knowledgeable superior guide is at hand for any questions as you drive around in your private 4WD.

Days 5-6 Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania
E Unoto Retreat In the morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading out on your final safari drive in the Serengeti. Drive out onto the southern plains – looking out for the predators that make this area so famous. Stop somewhere for your packed lunch, before leaving the Serengeti and driving back around the Ngorongoro Crater rim and down the Rift Valley Escarpment. Spend the next two nights based at the Maasai run…
E Unoto Retreat (full board & activities)
Whilst based at E Unoto, spend a whole day exploring the nearby Lake Manyara National Park. This beautiful park covers about 330km² of which roughly 200km² is water. There are vast grassy floodplains, where you find herds of buffalo, giraffe and wildebeest, lush groundwater forest and an expansive alkaline lake, home to bright pink flamingos, cormorants, pelicans and storks. You can also experience traditional Maasai culture whilst based here, by walking or cycling down into one of the nearby villages where you can expect a warm welcome.

Day 7
On your last morning in Tanzania, have a leisurely start at E Unoto before driving back to Arusha. Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and then either continue onto one of our beach add-on trips, or connect with your international British Airways flight back to London.

Day 8
Arrive at Heathrow in the early morning, with time to make any onward connections home.
