Olive Ridley turtle add-on



This excellent beach add-on trip spends 6 nights at Bazaruto Lodge on the northern tip of Bazaruto Island in Mozambique's Bazaruto Archipelago, and includes return flights to/from Johannesburg; It's a great value beach break to a pristine island; perfect to add to the end of one of our safaris our trips to Botswana, Namibia or Zambia – at a very relaxed and friendly beach lodge in a great location.

The flights from Johannesburg to Mozambique, upon which this trip is based, depart in the morning and arrive back in the late afternoon. Because of this, most travellers overnight in Johannesburg before leaving for Mozambique – and many will continue to connect directly through to international flights on their return.

Day 1 Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique
Bazaruto Lodge Your flight from Johannesburg to Mozambique, with Pelican Air, is usually scheduled to leave at about 10:20 in the morning. By around 13:00 you are in Vilanculos, where you stop (briefly completing immigration and customs formalities) before continuing on a further 10-minute flight over to the islands. Days 2-6 Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique
Bazaruto Lodge Staying at Bazaruto Lodge for total of six nights, your Standard Bungalow is under palm trees, near the powder-white beach – perfect for relaxation. You'll have access to Bazaruto's well-equipped water-sports centre, where many activities are complementary – and first-class PADI diving and snorkelling are available at a very reasonable extra cost.

Day 7
After your last morning's relaxed breakfast, you'll fly back to Vilanculos, and then onto Johannesburg (usually departing Vilanculos at about 14:00). You'll usually arrive in Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo) at about 16:30 – an ideal time to connect comfortably to overnight flights from Jo'burg back to Europe.

Notes:

• There is a luggage restriction of 20kg per person on the main flights in this trip.
• Bazaruto Lodge welcomes children of any age.

This itinerary includes:
• Economy flights from Johannesburg to Vilanculos, on the coast of Mozambique, and back to Johannesburg
• Return flight transfers between Vilanculos and Bazaruto Lodge. (Typically this is a 10-minute flight, followed by a 5-minute drive from the airstrip to the lodge.)
• Three meals per day
• Non-motorised water-sports: windsurfing, canoes and hobie-cats. Plus a daily snorkelling trip to coral gardens, and a daily 'drop and collect' at Dolphin Bay.
• One free 30-minute water-skiing lesson, and one free body-surfing trip to 'Three Trees Bay' (with a qualified instructor), per person per stay

This itinerary excludes:
• Mozambique domestic departure taxes.
• Bazaruto Lodge is in a National Marine Park; the entry fee to this is US$10 per person, payable locally.
• All activities which aren't mentioned above – including motorised water-sports, scuba-diving, fishing, other snorkelling and boat trips. All these can be paid for locally
• All drinks (soft and alcoholic)
• Tips and gratuities, which are optional.
