Oribi Safari



This great-value Zambia safari starts on the north side of Zambia's largest reserve, Kafue National Park, where it spends 7 nights exploring the Busanga Plains and the woodlands around Lufupa, which are so famous for their leopards. It then moves to Zambia's South Luangwa National Park staying at top-class camps run by Remote Africa Safaris – including 4 nights in a remote walking-only area of the park – before returning to a comfortable hotel in Lusaka to relax before the British Airways return flight to London Heathrow.

Day 1
Starting from London Heathrow on a Friday evening, your scheduled British Airways overnight flight takes you directly to Lusaka.

Days 2-4 Kafue National Park, Zambia
Lufupa Tented Camp Landing in Lusaka early on Saturday morning, you will be met at the airport, and then flown by light aircraft for about 90 minutes to Lufupa Airstrip, in northern Kafue. It's then a gentle safari drive until you reach your first camp…

Here you will spend 3 nights exploring the area in open 4x4 safari vehicles and perhaps on foot, with breaks to simply relax on a deckchair by the side of the river, and watch the wildlife go by.

Days 5-7 Kafue National Park, Zambia
Musanza Bushcamp Today your first 4x4 safari will take you north, onto the spectacular open Busanga Plains. These amazing grasslands cover about 750km². Musanza Bushcamp (full board & activities)
Your activities here will major on 4x4 safaris on the open plains, including exciting night drives. It's great country for predators; Busanga's tree-climbing lions are often seen hunting, wild dogs are around, and it's Zambia's best area for cheetah!

Day 8 Kafue National Park, Zambia
Lunga River Lodge After a morning drive on the plains, you'll safari north for a few hours, heading through the termitaria zone and into the tree-line of the miombo woodlands. Here you'll stop for one night at -

A final night at Lunga River Lodge, to include an afternoon perhaps spent on the river, or possibly a night drive to try and see nocturnal animals in the area.

Days 9-10 South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Tafika This morning you will be transferred by light aircraft back to Lusaka, from where you will connect to a 60-minute flight to Mfuwe Airport, which stands near South Luangwa. There you meet your guide and open 4WD vehicle who will drive you to the remote north side of this park, for your first 2 nights at the superb little camp of –

Days 11-12 South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Chikoko Tree Camp After exploring the area around Tafika with open 4WD safaris and walking safaris, you cross the Luangwa River (a short canoe ride or shallow paddle in bare feet!) into the walking-only area; there are no vehicles or roads here. Your luggage will be carried for you, and you walk for 2-3 hours or so to reach your home for the next 2 nights
Chikoko Tree Camp (full board & activities)

Days 13-14 South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Crocodile Bushcamp Staying in the wilderness area which is dedicated to walking safaris, you walk over to Chikoko's sister-camp, Crocodile Camp, which stands on the banks of an old dry riverbed. All your activities are walking safaris, escorted by an armed scout and an expert safari guide, and your are based for 2 nights

Day 15 Lusaka area, Zambia
Taj Pamodzi Hotel After transferring on foot back to Tafika Camp, you'll drive south shadowing the Luangwa River for about two hours to Mfuwe Airport, for a 60-minute flight back to Lusaka. There you'll be met by a representative of the Taj Pamodzi hotel, who will drive you through Lusaka to -

Day 16
Getting up very early in the morning, you will be driven to Lusaka Airport as the city wakes up, arriving in time to connect with your direct flight back to London Heathrow with British Airways. You arrive back into Heathrow in the late afternoon – refreshed after a superb trip to Zambia.
