Robin Pope Liuwa Plains Safari B

An amazing opportunity to explore one of the most remote parks in Africa – led by one of the continent's best safari guides; in May, June and November 2011 Robin Pope will be leading a handful of safaris in search of the amazing wildebeest migration that happens in Liuwa Plain national Park, in the extreme west of Zambia.

These trips have fixed dates (see below ), although it's easy to add other elements to make a longer Zambia safari onto the start or end of this trip – combining Liuwa Plain with a stay elsewhere in Zambia, or travel further afield to Botswana, Zimbabwe or Malawi.

For a shorter time in Liuwa, spending four nights there instead of five, see the alternative Liuwa Plains Safari A!
For a shorter time in South Luangwa, spending three nights there instead of four, see the alternative Liuwa Plains Safari C!

Day 1
Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled British Airways overnight flight takes you directly to Lusaka.

Days 2-6 Liuwa Plain National Park, Zambia
Matamanene Camp Landing in Lusaka early the next morning, connect onto a light aircraft flight to Kalabo (about 90 minutes' flight). On arrival in Kalabo, you'll be met and driven in an open 4x4 for about three hours to Matamanene Camp, in the centre of Liuwa Plain National Park. This will be your home for 5 nights of exploring on foot and by 4WD.

Your safari guide for this time will be Robin Pope – one of Africa's top safari guides – and he doesn't have a schedule. This is a perfect opportunity to explore and experience this amazing park.

Days 7-10 South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Nkwali Today you will either be (in Nov/Dec) driven back to Kalabo, or (in May/June) taken by boat across the wide Zambezi floodplain to Mongu. From there, your charter flight will take you to Lusaka to connect with a flight to South Luangwa. On arrival in South Luangwa, you'll be met and taken to Robin Pope Safaris' Nkwali Camp, which is approximately an hour's drive away. This will be your base for a further 4 nights.
