Robin Pope Liuwa Plains Safari C

The Robin Pope Liuwa Plains safari offers you a wonderful chance to explore this remote and pristine park in the west of Zambia – and is led by one of Zambia's top guides; in May, June and November 2011, Robin Pope himself will lead a small number of safaris to watch the fascinating wildebeest migration which occurs in Liuwa Plain National Park.

See below for the dates of the trips – these are fixed – but note that it's very easy to add on other areas to make a longer Zambian safari. Easily added onto the start or the end of this trip, these can combine Liuwa Plain with a stay either in Zambia, or travel further afield to Botswana, Zimbabwe or Malawi.

For a shorter time in Liuwa, spending four nights there instead of five, see the Liuwa Plains Safari A!
For a longer time in South Luangwa, spending four nights there instead of three, see the Liuwa Plains Safari B!

Day 1
Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled British Airways overnight flight takes you overnight directly to Lusaka.

Days 2-6 Liuwa Plain National Park, Zambia
Matamanene Camp Landing in Lusaka in the morning, you'll connect onto a charter flight to Kalabo (about 90 minutes' flight). On arrival in Kalabo, you'll be met and driven in an open 4WD for the approximately three-hour drive to Matamanene Camp, deep in the heart of Liuwa Plain National Park. This will be your base for 5 nights of exploring on foot and by 4WD.

Your guide for this whole trip will be Robin Pope – one of Africa's leading safari guides – and has no fixed itinerary. It's really time to explore and discover more about this amazing park.

Days 7-9 South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Nkwali Today you will either be (in Nov/Dec) driven back to Kalabo, or (in May/June) taken by boat across the wide Zambezi floodplain to Mongu. From there, your charter flight will take you to Lusaka to connect with a flight to South Luangwa. On arrival in South Luangwa, you'll be met and taken to Robin Pope Safaris' Nkwali Camp, which is approximately an hour's drive away. This will be your base for a further 3 nights.
