This adventurous safari spends 7 nights beside a great African river, split between three little camps in the Lower Zambezi area – concentrating on 4WD game drives, walking and river safaris (by canoe and boat); it's a superb trip for keen safari-goers who wish to explore the Zambezi's more remote areas whilst also gaining an insight into the people who live here.

Note that this safari only runs from 01 April to 30 November, when Zambia's weather is generally fine and dry.

Day 1

Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled British Airways overnight flight will take you directly to Lusaka.

Days 2-4 Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia

Arriving in Lusaka in the morning, you connect with a 45-minute flight to Lower Zambezi, flying south over the escarpment and down to the valley on the far side. On arrival, you'll be met by your guide and open 4WD vehicle and will be taken to spend your first 2 nights at –

Kasaka River Lodge (full board & activities)

Days 5-6 Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia

After exploring around Kasaka, you will start your canoe adventure, canoeing upriver to your next camp which is on a large island in the middle of the Zambezi. Perfect for canoeing or walks on the island, it's closely linked with a local village. A recent addition to the 'Chongwe family', your home for the next 2 nights will be –

Tsika Island Camp (full board & activities)

Days 7-8 Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia

After a final morning's activity from Tsika, you'll be taken on to Chongwe River Camp for a few more days exploring the area. River activities, including fantastic tiger fishing, are on offer here. You stay here for 2 nights at –

Day 9

Sadly leaving lower Zambezi, you'll take the short 45 minute light aircraft flight to Lusaka Airport. There your connect with a direct flight back to London Heathrow with British Airways, to arrive back into Heathrow in the late afternoon – after a superb safari to Zambia.
