Rothman Manor: Our full report
Situated in the town of Swellendam, Rothman Manor offers trendy accommodation set in 3.5 ha of lush grounds. On our brief visit in November 2011 the rooms were all occupied so we couldn't have a good look around but we managed a sneak peek of the “loft suite".
We understand Rothman Manor offers 6 individually decorated rooms set within a lush garden. Some of the rooms have a patio overlooking the pool and others have private decks overlooking the pond and the gardens. Each has an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, satellite TV's, personal safes, telephones, tea/coffee facilities and stocked mini bars. The bathrooms have under floor heating and are equipped with heated towels rails, bathrobes, hairdryers and complimentary toiletries. Seasonal fruits and flowers are also placed in the rooms.
Inside the main building there is a trendy lounge with a fire place that is decorated with African artifacts, and a small breakfast room. Outside in the park like garden with its rolling grounds there is a salt water pool, a large lily pond and an elevated outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the adjoining reserve for zebra, ostrich and springbok although we didn't see any. Co-owner Franziska is an artist and her paintings are displayed throughout the property.
Directly in front of the lounge, wide doors open out to a paved patio area with a large oak tree – this looked like a really nice spot to relax with a book or to enjoy breakfast on a sunny day
