Ocean Eleven review

Ocean 11's position is its ace card: straight onto the clifftop path, easy walking distance to Hermanus.

The room was elegant, spacious and comfortable. Owing to heavy rain on our arrival day, we were cold and wet and didn't appreciate the shower facility out in the entrance hall where the wind was whistling .... but the complementary decanter of sherry made up for this !

Boat for whale watching cancelled owing to poor weather !

Ocean Eleven review

The location was perfect, on the first morning we walked out of the diningroom to see the tail of a whale disappearing into the sea- wonderful!

The breakfast was beautifully presented, a table full of prepared fruit, grapefruit, passion fruit, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, melon, kiwi fruit, mango, guava, pawpaw looked delicious and was delicious - again a plentiful supply of yoghurt, cereal, cold meats and cheeses. The most amazingly orange egg yolks and the toasted bread 'popped' in your mouth.

The room was large, modern and tasteful with a TV and armchairs as well as a fridge. Patio doors opened out on to the swimming pool, a restricted sea view which they apologised for, but we were very happy!

Whale watching without leaving your room

We arrived to be greated with "The whales know you are coming and are in the bay performing". For the next three days we did nothing but watch whales and eat - or so it seemed.

A very comfortable and spacious room ideal for watching the whales and very friendly and helpful staff.

Ocean Eleven, Hermanus

After Bishopscourt I personally didn't like Oceans 11 at all, although my husband thought differently.

After Khadila's personal attention at Bishops Court I felt Oceans 11 probably aspired to the same level, but hadn't got there yet.

Hermanus was my very least favourite part of the trip - I didn't like the town one tiny bit and felt - a little like the hotel - that it was aspiring to more than it could provide.

Ocean Eleven review

A lovely guesthouse in an excellent location- great sea views and just far enough from town to provide a pleasant walk to and from dinner. Free sherry very welcome when we arrived with our broken down car!

Rooms very comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfasts excellent. Two minor criticisms - staff told us whales were still about when this wasn't the case, and we had to share the bed with quite a few ants on the second night - this wouldn't be all that surprising in the bush but a bit of a shock in Hermanus! Staff were horrified when we told them in the morning so we suspect this is a very unusual occurrence!!

There is no laundry facility- however many guests only stay one night so there is probably not much demand for it.

Superb accommodation on the cliffs

This was the most upmarket accommodation in a superb location on the cliffs overlooking Hermanus.

Our room was excellent with a wonderful view.

The establishment was very well run and the staff were friendly. Our breakfasts were excellent and well served.

beautiful home fromwhich to watch whales

Our only problem was finding the house - the trick is to look for road names on the kerb, not further up.

then the house and rooms were beautiful, spacious, airy and comfortable. We were treated like royalty.

We knew we were off to a good start when the first half hour we had seen a whale and her baby after drinking a free sherry!!

Lots of whales. Then our last morning watching whales breaching while eating a sumptous breakfast.
