On the east coast of Zanzibar, with its seemingly endless white powdery beaches, a small stretch below the villas is effectively for the exclusive use of the guests here. The water is usually crystal clear and great for swimming when at high tide. When the tide goes out, it can go out for miles; although you can't swim during these times, the exposed inter-tidal zone can be a fascinating place to walk. - View lodge details

Unguja Lodge sits on a low coral cliff above a quiet stretch of beach. Though it doesn't have the endless long white beach that some may associate with Zanzibar, it is far away from other lodges and as a result is free from any hassle. You can soak up the sun, or walk in either direction for miles, stopping to watch local women dry out sea-weed to eat or the fishermen bring in their catch of the day.
