"Oasis in busy Dar"

"The hotel is a wonderful and stylish oasis in rather busy Dar. We loved the style of the building and the rooms, all very well renovated but still in traditional local style.
The garden and terrace were marvelous and allowed a wonderful break during visiting, recovering from the flights and preparing for safari.

"The hotel was ok but a long journey (2 hrs) just to spend a night in a hotel and then go back to the airport the following morning. Is there not a nearer airport hotel?
Also it stank, and I mean stank, of paint. It had just been painted they informed us, but we both had difficulty going to sleep and felt sick when we woke up. Imagine repainting your bedroom and not airing it at all and then trying to go to sleep like that and you will get the picture.

"Seeing we were only there for about 7 hours and most of that we slept, we arrived at rush hour in Dar and it took us about an hour to get to the hotel, would have liked to have spent longer in Dar to explore"

"We only stayed here for about 8 hours while waiting for a flight from Dar to Nairobi. It was a good place to rest up, have a shower and a beer and something to eat.

"Very short stay, but very nice hotel!"

"My stay at the Southern Sun Dar was very short - I arrived around midnight and left early the next morning. The transfer from the airport to the hotel was very efficient and my driver was waiting for me at the airport. He made me feel welcomed and he was extremely courteous.
It's a bit of a drive to the hotel but it was nice to take in some of the sights, sounds and smells of Dar. This was my first time travelling to Tanzania (Africa too) and the Southern Sun was a nice first stop. The staff was welcoming and the room was comfortable.
