One night in Southern Sun hotel
We spent only the last night on this hotel before our next early morning flight. We don't have comments on it as we only had dinner in the hotel and left the next morning.
We would have preferred to spend this last night in another hotel because this one was very expensive, and that would have reduced the price a little. But that was our mistake because we did not comment on this last night, as we were concentrated in the safari and Mafia Island planning.

Service and food rating was based only for restaurant staff. Front of the house hotel staff were very gracious.

The staff were very helpful. The location is not especially good as there did not appear to be anything locally to walk to in the day time, with the location better suited for business people. The room was very average, I would imagine it was more then suitable for a business person.
With it being located so close to the airport I can well understand why it is a reaonsable option for a last night stay before returning home the next day. Mind you with so little to see or do locally the last day can drag some what, especially as we got there at midday. The lunch and dinner menu in the restaurant did not seem expecially varied with the Lunch we had being of average quality. The morning buffet was very good in terms of variety.
I am going to give it an "Average", although for Tanzania it may be worth of a "Good" but I do not have the knowledge of other hotels to make a fair comparison for the price.

Really liked this smart hotel in the middle of Dar.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and we would have liked to stay longer!

We only had an overnight stop, arriving in the evening and leaving early the next morning. We were tired from the flights and just needed to crash out.
The room was comfortable and we ate in the restaurant which was very good.
We have always believed that acting responsibly is the only way to approach tourism and we're one of
the few companies to hold AITO's original coveted 5-star status for responsible tourism. It's a lead
that others are now following.
