Kirurumu Manyara Lodge review
After our KLM flight out was delayed, our 2-night stay here was reduced to just one. Our Asilia driver/guide (Alfred) collected us from Kili' airport (flying from Nairobi) and we went straight into Manyara Park for an afternoon game drive, just round the northern area. Preceded by a delicious picnic lunch at a picnic spot just inside the park. So we arrived at Kirurumu early evening. There are quite a lot of tents here (27) but they are very spread out amongst the woodland and from ours there was a great view. 24hr elec. Converted paraffin-style lamps a nice touch. Handy socket for recharging things. Little gift shop. Drinks extra.
(The view was also appreciated by a fellow - German - visitor, who came on to our balcony to take photos just after we had arrived and we were just changing - so not appreciated by us! - a minor detail really. He was part of a very large and consequently very noisy group of Germans, but they left early the next morning and we had the place - including the lovely bar/lounge area to ourselves before leaving for Ngorongoro after lunch. Not a complaint, merely a comment)
Tents here were the smallest we stayed in, but perfectly adequate. Individual tables for dining. We left the German party to it, after dinner & retired to the lounge area. We had a quiet morning, mostly spent on the terrace area as we had to check out of the room by 10.00. Lunch in the dining room, and left after that with Alfred for Ngorongoro.
Kirurumu Manyara Lodge review
Staff very friendly and helpful.
The shower in our room did not drain well.
Tent looked over Lake Manyara - great
Very luxurious, excellent service, lovely location.
Had very imteresting daytime safari in Lake Manyara National Park followed by a night safari iun the park. At US$120 per person the night time safari was expensive and was fascinating in that the spotter wanted to show us he smallest creatures (difficult to see) and tended to rush past the big ones!!
We did a 1.5hr guided walk from Kirurumu Tented Lodge with a naturalist which was very interesting to see the farms and fields in the area.
