"A great place to relax and unwind"

3 nights Arrived 2 Feb 2019
"After visiting Selous and Ruaha, Amani Beach was the perfect place to relax and unwind. There was some confusion when I arrived at Dar domestic airport, as I couldn't see the person from Amani Beach who was supposed to drive me to the resort. I eventually had to take a taxi. The journey took just under two hours, and the roads were bumpy in places, but it was fascinating to see the outskirts of Dar es Salaam. When I arrived at Amani I was given a warm welcome, and they said their driver had been looking for me, but we obviously missed each other. This was soon forgotten when I heard the sound of the Indian Ocean, as I was taken to my comfortable lodge, which overlooked the beach.

All of the staff were very friendly, and were constantly on the go. Whether it was in the dining area, or staff maintaining the attractive gardens. The food although not particularly exciting was well cooked and very tasty, and my lodge had everything I needed. The air conditioning was especially welcome!

I did enjoy being a few seconds walk from the beach, and the swimming pool, and hearing the therapeutic sound of the ocean. On my last day I went for a swim in the shallows with my goggles on, and was mesmerised by the marine life living amongst the rocks. So many colourful fish! The resident blue monkeys which lived around the grounds were also fascinating to watch.

I would recommend a stay at Amani Beach, pre or post safari. A great place to recharge the batteries." See all these reviews: 13n in Tanzania

"Amana beach - fun landing at the air strip. Great sized bungalows.

Beautiful and quiet, but too much so for kids / teenagers. They need a few boogi boards and to be higher profile with other beach activities.

Food good, not great. Much better than Impala." See all these reviews: 8n in Tanzania

"Amani Beach review"

5 nights Arrived 9 Aug 2010
"The management of this hotel are really trying to improve it. The hotel consists of around 10 seaview villas of dreadful interior design but very comfortable. There is an excellent swimming pool and lots of beach to explore. We were lucky enough to see baby turtles hatching one our first day.

The transfer from Dar was in a very comfortable vehicle and ran to time. The management are very helpuful. We wanted to visit a friend nearby and they provided a vehicle and driver (for free we learned on check out).

The food is very good but there is no choice - although they do prepare for individual dietary requirements if you let them know. There is a plan to introduce a menu with choices (perhaps 2-3) in the near future and a snack menu. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are available mid morning and mid afternoon.

Power comes from a generator and is off most of the day. Internet access is possible but only from the office which is tedious. There is no charge.

They will arrange visits to other sites on request but we did not make use of this. We used our time just to walk, swim, and do some writing and reading. Familes with children might find the facilities a little limiting but this is a priority area they are looking at." See all these reviews: 6n in Zanzibar; 5n in Tanzania

"Amani Beach review"

2 nights Arrived 21 Dec 2007
"This was a great way to start the holiday after a long flight. The lodge is a short drive from the airport through some interesting villages. The children loved the pool and the abundance of monkeys in the gardens! The host, Gail, was extemely friendly and helpful. We had a very interesting walk to a local village with the guide. This gave us an insight into the lives of the people and certainly made our children think about how privileged they were. The horse riding was also fun.

The room was lovely and the food delicious, though there was maybe too much of it at lunchtime. It's a shame to waste food in such a poor country.

It's a pity that the bar doesn't stock cocktails! A minor point but the setting certainly lends itself to them!" See all these reviews: 6n in Tanzania
