Chimpanzee safari: In full
Visit two of Tanzania's most remote wildlife areas, Katavi National Park and Mahale Mountains National Park; though these are two relatively difficult parks to get to, the reward for getting there is a fantastic game viewing experience including the chance to see chimpanzees, with relatively few other visitors.

Days 1-3
3 nights at Chada Camp (full board & activities) | Katavi National Park, Tanzania
Jump onto a light aircraft at Arusha and fly four hours to the remote Katavi National Park. Though it is a long way to travel, the wilderness experience you get once you have arrived is unlike anywhere else. A driver will meet you at the airstrip and take you for your 3-night stay at the beautifully rustic Chada Camp. Freshen up in your large tented room and enjoy some lunch before heading out either in a 4x4 vehicle or on foot, on your first afternoon activity. The game here can be spectacular during the dry season and your knowledgeable guide will point out many interesting things.Days 4-7
4 nights at Greystoke Camp (full board & activities) | Mahale Mountains National Park, Tanzania
This morning, another small aircraft will take you on to Mahale Mountains National Park. You land on the edge of Lake Tanganyika, where a small crew will escort you onto a traditional African dhow boat. Enjoy a bite to eat and a refreshing drink as you motor round to a spectacular beach and the stylish Greystoke Camp. Spend 4 nights here, hiking into the hills to observe chimpanzees with your expert guide who will know each chimp individually – which makes your experience all the more fascinating. Then in the afternoons relax on the white beach, kayak out onto the lake or head off sailing on the dhow, before heading back to a superb dinner.Day 8
