This top safari visits two leading camps in southern Tanzania – the owner-run Mwagusi Camp, in a remote corner of the Ruaha National Park, and the excellent Beho Beho Camp, in the Selous Game Reserve; both are great camps, albeit different. There's a real contrast between the parks' ecosystems, which gives varied safari opportunities – some of the very best in the whole of southern Tanzania.
Day 1
Departing in the evening from London Heathrow, your scheduled overnight Kenya Airways flight flies directly to Dar es Salaam.(See our page on flights to Tanzania for more detailed flight information and suggestions.)
Days 2-5
4 nights at Mwagusi Safari Camp (full board & activities) | Ruaha National Park, Tanzania
Arriving early in Dar es Salaam, you are escorted through to the domestic terminal for a flight to Ruaha National Park. (This takes about 150 minutes, usually stopping in Selous in the middle.) They're you're met for a game drive of about 45 minutes, to the remote Mwagusi Safari Camp.You have 4 nights here to explore this enormous park – in the company of Chris Fox’s excellent team of enthusiastic wildlife guides.
Days 6-8
3 nights at Beho Beho (full board & activities) | Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania
From Ruaha's airstrip, it's only about a 90-minute flight to Selous Game Reserve, where you'll land at Beho Beho's own airstrip, just five minutes' drive from camp. Arrive in time to freshen up and have a delicious lunch, before heading out on your first afternoon activity. Spend 3 nights here at Beho Beho.This is currently one of Africa's best camps, with high standards of comfort and top-notch guiding. You can choose between a range of first class safari activities including drives, walking safaris and boat trips.
Day 9
AAfter your last morning on safari, it's a short flight (about 45 minutes) to Dar es Salaam, which is the hub for many flights around Tanzania.
