Jackal Fly-in Safari

Enjoy a range of activities on this luxury fly-in safari. Explore the remoter regions of Ruaha National Park and Nyerere National Park with phenomenal guides during stays at two impressively comfortable camps that remain perfectly in keeping with their surroundings.

Jackal Fly-in Safari: Summary

Jackal Safari in a nutshell

This fly-in safari features two flawlessly luxurious camps within southern Tanzania’s Ruaha National Park and Nyerere National Park. Each camp boasts spectacular views from their elevated position atop escarpments and hilltops, rivalling one another with their impressive design, renowned guiding and range of activities.

Beginning at Ruaha’s Ikuka, guests will stay in one of 6 open-sided rooms. These have been designed to optimise phenomenal views of either the sunrise or sunset, which guests can enjoy from the privacy of their own wooden balcony. A short 20-minute drive from the park’s best game-viewing, guests at Ikuka may expect potential lion prides, large herds of elephants and a multitude of birds.

One of the only camps set apart from the Nyerere National Park’s rivers and waterways, Beho Beho offers a more remote safari experience than most. The 7 stone bandas boast private plunge pools, from where guests may observe the local flora and fauna that covers the hillside. Guests may opt for a night in Beho Beho’s lofty treehouse, or if visiting in larger groups, take up residence in the private house known as Bailey’s Banda.

A safari of style and comfort, this trip is also favoured for the superb standard of guiding available throughout. Guests will experience much of the varying landscapes and wildlife within Ruaha and Nyerere national parks, learning from top-quality guides during a multitude of safari activities that range from game drives to bush walks and boat trips.

Ikuka Safari Camp

Days 1-5

Built high on the escarpment, the upmarket Ikuka Safari Camp has commanding views of Tanzania’s Ruaha National Park. It was opened in late 2016, about a 20-minute drive from the park’s best game-viewing areas, and stands out for its unique location.

Beho Beho

Days 5-9

Beho Beho has a unique location in the Nyerere National Park – high on a hill in an area dotted with baobab trees. Indeed, the name Beho Beho means ‘breeze’, which is apt given its airy location. Its site was first used as early as 1972, and it’s not only one of the reserve’s first camps, but also one of the few camps in the Nyerere National Park (previously known as the Selous Game Reserve) that is set away from the river or one of the lakeshores. In 2004 the camp was rebuilt using locally sourced materials and it regularly undergoes a complete refurbishment.
