Rufiji River Camp: picture gallery

Beside the great Rufiji River…
…Rufiji River camp has one of the best locations in the Selous.
It's an informal camp, where sandy paths lead to the open-sided lounge and dining area...
...and a large public deck area...
...from where there is a great view over the river.
The bar is a favourite spot here…
…or join other guests by the firepit.
Meals are often served buffet style…
…but we found the food appetising and varied.
The tents are all very similar…
… and set out in a line along the river...
... each under a shady thatched roof.
Inside the tents are simple, with twin-beds under mosquito nets, ...
...bathrooms at the back of the tents with a flush toilet and a shower...
...and a small writing desk - for those essential postcards from the bush.
They're not the height of style…
…but they're very spacious and practical.
Each tent has a veranda.
When the fierce sun shines, it's hot - so enjoy a dip in the pool...
... or simply a laze on a nearby lounger ...
...or sink into an armchair and browse some wildlife books.
Activities are conducted to a bit of a formula at Rufiji River Camp.
They include boat trips on the Rufiji River and nearby lakes, in motorised punts...
...where you can sit and watch the wildlife.
Plus walking safaris - though don't get too friendly with the local wildlife.
Rufiji River Camp's fleet of game drive vehicles ranges from old warhorses…
…to modern Land Cruisers.
