"Staff incredibly helpful - I would say they enhanced the experience.. The balance of river and land advantageous ( Gerard the boatman deserves a special mention) Had a very unsettling elephant encounter on the way to dinner one night which was not dealt with very well by the Askari - other people at the lodge also commented that they found the attitude to animals in the camp perhaps a little casual.

Food was strictly average overall (poor on one night)but on 2 occasions the staff arranged a different venue with surprises to celebrate birthday and retirement which was much appreciated. Bush breakfast also good, Choice of sundowner drinks limited.
Swimming pool a huge advantage in such heat.

Availibility of fresh coffee also a bonus"

"Very attractive and quirky accommodation - although would have liked netting across bathroom apertures to prevent insects when light on.

Food was absolutely outstanding - what a pity there was no fresh coffee. However the bush breakfast was a disappointment - both in terms of food and the lack of chairs and table. Sundowners ( except for one occasion) also disappointing.

Enjoyed the change of location for dinner under the stars. Camp manager ( Charlotte ) and Chris Fox made a great effort to mingle with guests and create happy atmosphere. Our guide - Samson - was exceptionally good.

Terrain - although lacking a river( full of water!!!) - was very varied and interesting.
We missed a swimming pool as a release from heat , having come from Impala."

"Staff without exception were helpful and friendly. We arrived to flowers on the bed and a bottle of chilled sparkling wine to celebrate retirement - much appreciated.

There were sufficient hammocks, sunbeds etc for everyone ( although I do feel guests should be firmly discouraged from leaving towels on poolside sunbeds early in the day and then disappearing for an hour or more!!)

The food was perfectly acceptable but not as good as we were expecting. However there was no difficulty in obtaing an alternative if the set meal was not particularly to one's taste. We also had an excellent seafood lunch on the beach which was an extra arrangement.

There was a good range of drinks on offer at a reasonable price. The beach was kept beautifully clean."

"Rooms very basic and frankly disappointing although air conditioning was a plus. The mosquito net looked as though it needed a wash and the window gauze was damaged. However when a light bulb was reported as not working it was instantly fixed.

Breakfast was good but the take away breakfast on departure was not acceptable.

There were disadvantages to the location - e.g. no vehicular access, so luggage had to be carried ."
