Our third stay in less than a year!
It says much for our satisfaction with Eight Reedbuck that this was our third stay there in less than a year and there is little if anything we can usefully add to the feedback from our previous two visits.

A good and practical solution for those who just want it to be easy and comfortable and feel no need to get to know Lusaka.
So the perfect choice for us even if the dinner was a rather uninspired affair.
Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel to stay at. The rooms are very spacious and well decorated. The staff were very friendly.

Eight Reedbuck claims to be Lusaka's only boutique hotel and is Zambian owned and run and has only 10 rooms/suites. It's certainly quirky and I hovered between giving it 3 and 4 paws. Settled on 3 in the end because I couldn't give 3 and a half and although I think it is trying quite hard it's not quite there for me. Having said all that it least it has character and it is comfortable with good communal spaces and I much prefer that to a bland, anonymous chain.
It's certainly decorated in a way that makes it feels boutique-y. We had a very warm welcome and whilst our bags were being delivered to our rooms we had refreshing drink the in garden - which is lovely. There is also a pool. Our room was huge and had we been so minded could have watch the large TV. We had a little private garden area and a huge bathroom. And A/C which was very nice. I'm pretty sure that if I had wanted a hairdyer I could have asked for one - finding someone to ask might be more challenging:-) - likewise had we each wanted a robe rather than sharing the single one in the room.
Staff were hard to find after our arrival but I was finally able to use the reception PC to check in for our flight the next day which I appreciated. The restaurant is small and although the menu limited, the food was nice and given where we were I thought it was probably reasonable value. But it took a very, very long time indeed to be served. Likewise trying to get a drink in the garden. Service really is difficult to find and it is very slow here. It's not the end of the world but I would have definitely have ordered more drinks in the garden and more food in the restaurant if it hadn't been so hard to track down and so slow to be delivered.
We were leaving at 0630 the next morning and although we had booked B&B then was no breakfast to be had. Again, not the end of the world because I wouldn't want much at that time in the morning but if I stay again then I would just ask for a room only rate or failing that then a rate that either gives you breakfast or a small "allowance" towards bar or restaurant spend.
Overall we had a comfortable night and I am glad that we took the lunchtime flight from Mfuwe because it gave us some time to relax in the garden and take in our last Zambian sunset. It's only about 30 mins from the airport so it is handy - if the service was better this would be a gem.
Nice stay
Very comfortable room.
It was such a shame that we could only have time for a continental breakfast in our room due to the early BA flight. It seemed a waste of booking bed and breakfast.
Very relaxing stop with a good evening meal. Some of the staff seemed to be new and not always sure what to do.
A great place to stay in Lusaka
This was our second stay at Eight Reedbuck this year, this time for three nights. Stella runs an impressive operation and could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Strongly recommended for anyone who needs/wants to spend time in Lusaka (and just 30 minutes getting out to the airport in the early morning).

The size of the room was good for a stop over, the receptionist was very helpful and arranged for us to have some cereal to eat early in the morning as we had an early start.
The only comment really was that for such a new hotel the shower was quite dirty, but the rest of the room and sitting area was very pleasant.
Good experience
Friendly staff. Lunchtime snack was a little disappointing. Had supper out.
Accommodation perfectly adequate except never managed to switch off light outside bedroom.
Eight Reedbuck Hotel
We only stayed here as we had to be near the airport for an early flight back to London. The room was comfortable and perfectly acceptable for a brief overnight stay. We had an evening meal in the dining room as the hotel didn't appear to be located in an area where there were any restaurants. We thought the food was overpriced and not very good. With hindsight we should have enquired whether there were any other places to eat nearby. We were provided with items for a very basic breakfast the night before, as we had to leave for the airport before they started serving breakfast.

Eight Reedbuck was in a good location for the early morning transfer to the airport. The rooms are large and very comfortable with well appointed bathrooms.
The only criticism really is that breakfast is quite poor. It is delivered to your room the night before and only consists of bland cereal, yogurt and a piece of fruit.
