Eight Reedbuck Hotel review
The standard of accomodation was very good. Definitely a great location as well.
However, the service was shocking. Bar tender became the cook and clearly had limited if no experience in cooking.
We ordered a Chicken dish from the main. IT CAME WELL COOKED OUTSIDE BUT RAW IN THE MIDDLE. IT WASN'T EVEN WARM IN THE MIDDLE. When asked to change it to steak, he simply charged us for the steak with no apology or the courtesy to accept the fact that he was trying to feed someone a raw uncooked chicken.....
A complete contrast to how were looked after by Robin Pope group.
Expert Africa comments
We were very disturbed to receive these comments from our travellers and forwarded them immediately to Clive, who owns and oversees Eight Reedbuck. He responded very quickly to us, as he had also been dismayed by the comments.
Clive told us that in recent weeks he had received a couple of similarly disturbing reports. Hence, as of 1 May (which was over a week ago as I write this), he had put in place a completely new food and beverage team. Hes watching this carefully, but tells us that hes confident that this new team will ensure that Eight Reedbucks reputation for excellent service is maintained.
Clive also asked us to pass on his personal apologies to these travellers for the poor service that they received during their stay.
Eight Reedbuck Hotel
Only had a night here. The room was fine ,in fact a huge suite ,clean and tidy ,lots of hot water.
Most people will stay there before the early flight out of Lusaka, they do an enormous breakfast which they leave for you overnight, it was so early we could hardly touch it. It would have been better if they would have asked what we wanted.
The reception staff disappeared in the evening and there was no one to carry our bags when we left The evening meal was very good but there was one other large table and they had to wait ages. Quick transfer to trhe airport
Eight Reedbuck Hotel review
A brief overnight stop before the early morning BA departure back to Heathrow. Approx 30 minutes drive from Lusaka airport.
Perfectly adequate for a short stay. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
On-site restaurant serving a good variety of meals.
Eight Reedbuck Hotel review
Well received. Good dinner. Hotel computer very slow. We gave up trying to check in. All very adequate.
Taxi excellent
Overnight stay at the 8 Reedbuck
Very nice hotel 30 mins from Lusaka airport in a safe/secure location. Friendly staff and really interesting rooms decorated in Zambian tribal style.
Only let down by very slow service at dinner, although they did have a large business event on at the time.
Expert Africa (Lucy) said that we could have breakfast before our trip home and on arrival we were told that this was not possible (at 5:30am). However the hotel organised breakfast in our rooms.
Overall a pleasant place to stay on the way home and much better than flying back via Jo'burg.
