"Zambia July 2016"

I visited Zambia between 25 Jul 2016 and 6 Aug 2016
"We had a superb safari.

The weather was more akin to the end of August than the end of July and everywhere was very dry, forcing the game to the river. In all 3 lodges visited, Tena Tena, Lion Camp and Nkwali, we had excellent guides and better sightings than expected. Tena Tena and Lion Camp were more remote locations with less safari traffic than Nkwali.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 11 on a Zambia safari

"Best Safari Ever in South Luangwa"

I visited Zambia between 22 Jul 2016 and 6 Aug 2016
"This was my 30th trip to Africa and my best yet.

The game viewing was truly amazing, with wild dogs and leopard cubs being the highlights. We had some excellent guiding, and the camps were stunning and very varied in style.

South Luangwa is a little piece of paradise and I think still under rated as a safari destination." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Zambia safari

"Hippo trip of a lifetime"

I visited Zambia between 15 Jul 2016 and 27 Jul 2016
"Despite starting with a downgrade from BA (not Expert Africa's fault, we asked for them because of their Worldtraveller Plus seats - big mistake it turns out - booking 10 months in advance cut no ice) this was a fantastic trip.

The main aim was to see hippos close up and personal and the Kaingo Camp hide provides that, as does the location. Leopard, Painted dogs, lion likes, leopard feeding in trees, lions, hyenas and leopards day and night..... were all a huge bonus for us. The whole experience exceeded our expectations and the promises made in the brochures.

Expert Africa were really helpful with the details (e.g. breaks at Pioneer Camp & Victoria Falls) and are currently engaging with BA over the outward downgrade refund." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 10 on a Zambia safari

"Zambia July/Aug 2016"

I visited Zambia between 13 Jul 2016 and 4 Aug 2016
"Wonderful!! The logistics firm in particular - Team Africa? - who met us at Lusaka - were great! I'm sorry I can't definitely remember the name of the company. We wouldn't have caught the first connecting flight to Mfuwe if they hadn't hurried us through immigration. They were SO helpful at every interchange that I feel rather guilty about not having tipped them much, the problem being that we were usually rather disorientated at these junctures, with our minds on the difficulties that they were busy smoothing out. There were the big things, like catching planes and tracing luggage, which they handled very well, and also the small things, like returning a book I'd borrowed from Mchenja, which I was certain I could trust them with, that made our trip so very easy and relaxing. It was a totally luxurious 5-star holiday all the way." Read full review: 22 nights in Africa; 21 on a Zambia safari

"Wonderful trip to Tanzania and Zambia"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 30 Jun 2016 and 16 Jul 2016
"A wonderful trip! It was interesting to combine Tanzania and Zambia for the variety of wildlife sightings and changes in landscapes.

Many thanks to Claire Scott (EA) for organising it all, and especially for recommending Kigelia in Ruaha, it is an amazing place! Glad I visited Selous before Ruaha as it only got better! Chongwe River Camp in Lower Zambezi still remains my favourite camp. The team from Tours Africa in Lusaka airport also deserves a mention for being so helpful at arrivals and during transfers.

This trip was a fantastic experience from start to finish!

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Not sure you could raise standards any higher!

Third time I have used EA and have never been disappointed. Already looking forward to booking my next trip with your team in the future." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 10 on a Tanzania safari

"Just as good as last year's trip"

I visited Zambia between 18 Jun 2016 and 30 Jun 2016
"This holiday is virtually identical to the one we took in 2015. In last year's review we said that we had had the best holiday in over 40 years of travelling. This year's visit was at least as good if not better!

We continue to be very impressed by the quality of everything provided by Robin Pope Safaris. We would also like to mention the Tour Africa agents at Lusaka Airport. They met us and looked after us ensuring that our arrival and departure went smoothly for both domestic and international flights.

All of our holiday arrangements were made possible by Freddie Sutton at Expert Africa. Very many thanks." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 11 on a Zambia safari

"Wonderful Experience"

I visited Zambia between 15 Jun 2016 and 27 Jun 2016
"As this was a return trip to the same camps as 18 months previously we were concerned that we may not be so enthalled. This was certainly not the case - we were welcomed back magnificently and had the time of our lives and saw some amazing sights.

The trip organisation went without a hitch, we especially appreciated being meet by Tours Africa on arrival into Lusaka and had to be rushed through immigration/visa etc as flight was late coming in. If the tours Africa rep had not been there to help we would probably missed the connection." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 11 on a Zambia safari

"My Jan 2016 trip"

I visited Tanzania and 4 other countries between 24 Jan 2016 and 15 Feb 2016
"It was excellent, brilliantly organised and managed.

In retrospect we should have chosen Sabyinyo in Rwanda, Ngorongoro Crater in the Crater. I would have preferred to stay at the Hyatt in Dar - or an alternative to the Serena - it was a shocker.

I had concerns about Little Kwara before I went and these were confirmed. I would not stay with a Kwando facility on a return to Africa." Read full review: 22 nights in Africa; 7 on a Tanzania safari

"Excellent trip - all ran to plan"

I visited Botswana and 1 other country between 3 Dec 2015 and 23 Dec 2015
"With the exception of ProFlight all ran to schedule. Ground handling good, no delays.

At Xakanaxa airstrip (which incidentally is a new runway positioned a little further from the camps than the 'old' strip) we were very pleasantly surprised to see Banda, our requested guide for Camp Xakanaxa where has been based since last January, albeit we were due at Camp Moremi first. Apparently in agreement with the D&DS marketing manager (regret don't know his name and was not aware he was the South African chap who wished us well as he leaving for the plane we arrived on) we were allocated Banda for the whole of our 5 night stay on an exclusive basis. This is an amazing example of D&DS customer service for which we are truly grateful. If you are aware of the chap's name please let me know and I will send a thank-you e-mail. Thanks should also be extended to all the D&DS staff including Setch and staff at Suvute and Albert (who was 'care-taking' between Moremi and Xakanaxa) and all the staff.

We will undoubtedly return to Nkwali, Savute and delta camps again - don't know when. However in future we will try to avoid Jo'burg airport if only due to the totally inefficient and unfriendly staff at passport control. It takes ages to be processed. Never enough staff on duty. As you maybe aware, there are 2 sections, one deals with SA residents, the other all non-SA passengers.

There are some 25 (maybe more) passport control booths on the non-SA section. Less than half were being manned on our first arrival and only 7 when we arrived form Maun. Coupled with the delays occurring to some families, presumably associated with the recently introduced regulations and paperwork required for people travelling with children, the delays are totally unacceptable. We were directed to stand in a queue behind a family which we were already aware had processing problems and had to wait 20 minutes while they continued to try and resolve without any apparent success so we asked to move and were eventually directed to stand in another queue. There is no efficient management system in place, it's a shambles.

It is not surprising that Lusaka airport is building a new terminal (by the Chinese!) and Maun wants to expand so that passengers can fly direct rather than via Jo'burg which attracts so much criticism. BA used to fly direct to Lusaka but apparently no more. We met people who flew with Emirates via Dubai so for the future it's worth considering another carrier. There may be others."
