This classic Zambian safari gives you 6 nights in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park, using the three small, high-quality camps run by Robin Pope Safaris which allows you to choose your activities – from walking safaris to 4x4 game drives (night & day) – when you're there on a day-by-day basis. It's a memorable safari staying in first-class camps.
Zambia's climate is generally fine and dry from June to October. For the equivalent trip during the green season (January to May), see Hippo safari (wet).
Day 1
Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled British Airways overnight flight takes you overnight directly to Lusaka.Days 2-3
2 nights at Nkwali (full board & activities) | South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Landing in Lusaka in the morning, you'll connect to a flight to Mfuwe (about 60 minutes) beside South Luangwa National Park. You'll be met by a safari guide and open 4WD for the 30-minute drive to Nkwali Camp, beside the Luangwa River. Arriving in time for an excellent lunch at Nkwali camp, and this will be your base for 2 nights of exploring on foot and by 4WD. Days 4-5
2 nights at Tena Tena (full board & activities) | South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
After a good brunch, you'll be driven a few hours north, to the romantic, tented camp of Tena Tena. This will be your base for a further 2 nights. As usual with all of Robin Pope's main camps, you'll have the choice of walking or driving – so it's up to you how to explore here.Days 6-7
2 nights at Nsefu (full board & activities) | South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
After your morning activity and brunch, you'll drive to the historic Nsefu Camp, which has been beautifully rebuilt in recent years. Here you'll stay for a further 2 nights. Nsefu is close to the great salt pans, and the Luangwa's largest stork colony, so there's plenty to explore on foot or in a 4x4.Day 8
1 night at Pioneer Camp (half board) | Lusaka area, Zambia
After a final game drive or walking safari through the remote Nsefu Sector of the park, you will be taken back to Mfuwe Airport for your flight back to Lusaka. On arrival in Lusaka you will be collected and taken for just one night at Pioneer Camp.Day 9
Rising early in the morning, you transfer to Lusaka airport for your direct flight back to London Heathrow with British Airways.
