Kafue National Park covers 22,400km² of varied flora and fauna, and the Busanga Plains in its north hosts a great quantity and diversity of big game. The Shumba Safari offers chances to see rare roan antelope, as well as your best chance of seeing cheetah on your holiday in Zambia. Based at Shumba Camp, the most luxurious camp in the Kafue; you can expect good game sightings, all around views of the floodplains, great service and excellent food.

Days 1-4

4 nights at Shumba Camp (full board & activities) | Kafue National Park, Zambia

Shumba Camp is built on a tree island in the middle of the Busanga Plains.After arriving in Lusaka, connect onto a light aircraft for a short flight to Busanga Plains’ local airstrip. Once you have landed in Kafue National Park you are met by a safari guide and driven back to camp in a 4WD. Stay in one of Shumba’s raised tented rooms, and relax on the shady deck and in the plunge pool of the communal area. Enjoy the special touches at Shumba Camp; sherry available in your bedroom, marshmallows to toast around the fire and a personal water bottle for the duration of your stay. Activities at Shumba include day and night game drives and, in the wetter months, boat trips in an adapted shallow water swamp boat.

Day 5

On your final day of safari, you’ll have an early breakfast in camp before a final drive to the airstrip for your light flight back to Lusaka. Once landed in Lusaka you will connect straight onto the South African Airways flight back to London Heathrow via Johannesburg, arriving early in the morning following an exhilarating Zambian safari holiday.
