"Nsefu review"

3 nights Arrived 11 Sep 2016
"Wonderful location overlooking the Luangwa River. The rooms were comfortable but reasonably small. However, we enjoyed the historical significance of them.

It didn't bother us particularly, but the rooms are very close to each other and the windows very much look into your neighbours' room so privacy is a bit limited! Fantastic game viewing including 16 lions eating a puku, a male lion driving a leopard from its kill, a Pel's fishing owl, a pack of wild dogs and a wonderful colony of carmine bee-eaters. Stephanie was an excellent hostess.

We were amused to find our Expert Africa agent at the camp with his family!" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia

"Wonderful 1950s Attenborough, Zooquest vibe"

2 nights Arrived 10 Sep 2016
"We loved the historic, 1950s bush camp and baggy shorts feel to Nsefu.

Located on a bend in the river Luangwa gives it great views along and over the river, with wildlife to watch at all times. The camp has a real feel of being in the bush away from everywhere and the rondavels strike a balance between tents and rooms perfectly.

Some have said the rooms are too close together, but this did not feel intrusive to us. The staff were friendly, food excellent and guiding again exemplary." See all these reviews: 6n in Zambia; 5n in Malawi

"Fifth time at Nsefu"

2 nights Arrived 1 Sep 2016
"Nsefu's splendid location on a bend in the Luangwa river allows superb views from the rooms, which have a unique rondavel style. We watched herds of elephants regularly coming down to the river to drink. The game density is very high, and we appreciated the excellent guiding skills of Chilumba. As well as many lions, Chilumba took us very close to a pack of wild dogs. Wild dogs have eluded us on previous visits, so this was a very special sighting.

One afternoon, the elephants passed through the camp, just behind the rondavels. And then, on our last morning, we had lions in camp at breakfast time. Not content with occupying the bar area, two youngsters pulled off the rope from the outside loo, and proceeded to use it to entertain us with a 'tug-of-war".

The food at Nsefu was again very good. Ruth is much more than a hostess: she manages the camp very well indeed and we enjoyed insightful discussions with her around the bush TV.

Nsefu has a great atmosphere, but the river bank is slowly being eroded, and the camp may have to be moved sometime in the future. Go to the existing Nsefu whilst you can!" See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia

"Nsefu review"

1 night Arrived 28 Aug 2016
"The first and main thing to say is how absolutely wonderful South Luangwa Valley is! Utterly beautiful and (perhaps particularly in this sector and during the dry season) amazingly full of animals. Being able to have night drives every day was terrific - we saw an astonishing number and variety of animals.

Nsefu has a breathtaking location - it is right on the water and has sweeping views of the river and the animals in and crossing it. The camp was extremely well run and the food was delicious. Our guide was really excellent - years of experience and such depth of knowledge and well attuned to our interests (what we wanted to see, how long to stay, how much information) and very good company!

If the camp had been full the closeness of the rondavels might have detracted from our sense of being out in the wilderness, and we prefer the open feel of tents, but they were very comfortable and the open-air bathroom makes them feel more spacious." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

"Superb Safari at Nsefu"

2 nights Arrived 25 Aug 2016
"The first and main thing to say is how absolutely wonderful the South Luanga National Park is - stunningly beautiful and (perhaps particularly in this sector and at this time of year) full of animals. The opportunity to have night drives every day is great - we saw an astonishing number and range of animals.

The location of Nsefu Camp is breathtaking - the whole camp is right on the river with broad sweeping views of it and the animals in and crossing the water. The water hole was a great attraction for every kind of antelope and lots of warthogs and the hide meant many animals came to within inches of us. It was such a treat to see the usually skittish antelope be so relaxed and watch them so closely and for so long. The food was delicious and the camp was run beautifully. Our guide was fantastic - so experienced and extensively knowledgeable and very attuned to our wishes (what we wanted to see, how long we wanted to stay, how much information we wanted) and was very good company.

If the camp had been full we might have found the rondavels too close to have the full in-the-wilderness experience and we do prefer the more open feel of a tent - but in fact we spent so little time inside it hardly mattered and they are very attractively done and the outdoor bathroom opens them out very well." "great start to holiday at Nsefu"

4 nights Arrived 4 Aug 2016
"We had a wonderful start to our holiday here.
The rooms are quite close together but we were lucky that the camp wasn't full so we didn't feel too overlooked.
The location makes up for it anyway, it is probably the best in South Luangwa.
I could lie on my bed in the afternoon and watch the elephants crossing the river.
Our guide, Thomas, was excellent. We saw Leopard, Lion, Wild dogs and much more, all on our first morning drive!
Excellent sightings carried on for our whole visit there.
There was also some wonderful bird life there. We even managed to get a very good sighting of Pel's fishing owl.
The food was also excellent, and the camp host, Ruth was extremely good.
Couldn't have asked for a better start to a trip!" See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia
