Tafika is lovely - it has a great open setting on the river bank, with daybeds to chill out on and watch the hippos. and sip a cold beer. The rooms are also open and you wake to the smell of the breakfast fire and shower under the stars. Be prepared to find that the cat has sneaked between the mosquito nets to curl up on your bed for the night.!
Great safaris with masses of wildlife and birds, spectacular sundowner spots and night drives . The trip to the village school was fascinating. Be prepared to dance! The microlight flight is well worth doing, and you can also go on bike rides . Dinner has a slightly more formal feel than in other camps, but the food is delicious, and there's a fire under the table to keep your legs warm!
NP shared with one camp is a great advantage
We had all the top guides, hence excellent guiding. The guides were very persistent during the drives, they never gave up. No lions but 3 leopard spotting, one cat chasing after pukus.
Tafika retained the feeling of Bush Camp, by being straight forward and unpretentious. A very relaxed atmosphere.
The staff was very accommodating.
We also enjoyed the "close" contacts with the hippos.
A Tafika meal is always a real treat : very fresh , abundant, great variety of dishes. Wonderful.
Tafika camp is even on a second visit largely living up to our (high) exspectations .
It became our bench-mark for safari lodges.
And off course the microlight flights ... !
Outstanding. The location, food, guides, rooms and overall atmosphere are superb. It is difficult to imagine a better game lodge.
Considering it is in the remote bush, the meals were truly inspired.
Tafika Camp Review
Excellent camp in a prime riverfront location away from other lodges. John and Carol are excellent hosts. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The camp and activities are all well run. Plenty to see and do, but also enough time in between to relax and enjoy the camp's beautiful setting.
The rooms were all thatch and reed, well spaced for privacy. Very comfortable.
Meals were excellent, especially all the fresh vegetables from the camp's garden. Time at camp was very friendly and relaxing, and John and Carol made you feel right at home.
Game viewing was good for so early in the season, and the guides knew the area very well.
Super Excellent plus ! ! !
Personal contact with Carol John and Brian adds 200% to the charm of the camp.
Flying and walking was quite an experience.
Best ever of our trips to Southern Africa !
Clearly a camp run by the same people for many years, which is an advantage in this case. Well-run by John, Carol and Brian, who are still passionate after all these years, this camp has some extras such as a microlight and a fanatic birder (Brian). To us, being interested in birds, this was a nice assetRead more about the whole safari
As usual, everything was first class, from the friendly, informal greeting, making you feel instantly at home, the quality of the rooms, food etc.Read more about the whole safari
What a great safari experience at Tafika
Had an amazing time at Tafika, great guides taking you out and then the best of hospitality when you return to camp.
Microlighting at sunrise is one of the best expereinces ever.
We loved it but I would say its not for those who don't like insects or for those on a first safari.
Good variety of game
John and Carol are good hosts and have created a very pleasant environment.
This is generally a strong camp which we enjoyed, although we felt that a couple of the staff were perhaps ready for the end of season! We did however very much appreciate their flexiblility when we needed to change the itinerary around.
The terrain is varied and, in addition to good leopard and lion etc, we enjoyed the flocks of crowned crane, our first oribi and a best ever serval sighting. Brian was a good guide. The night drives are particularly rewarding, while the microlight flight with John is just not to be missed....
