Zebra Plains
Zebra Plains provided one amazing experience after another, from our short canoe trip across the river on arrival to our final walk tracking a leopard, steering clear of a sleeping hippo and watching a herd of elephants as they walked close by. The staff here are excellent. This was my first safari, and everyone made me feel relaxed and safe and enhanced the whole experience.
Garth is a brilliant guide - fascinating, entertaining, informative and fun. We didn't walk with Malemia but he was charming company at mealtimes.
For such a remote location, the food was very good but I felt they were perhaps a bit too ambitious at times. Sometimes, the simple food was the best - like the delicious breads baked daily in their earth oven. Accommodation and facilities were comfortable and clean and it's good to know that the camp is removed at the end of each season leaving minimal impact on the environment.
For a camp that has only recently opened, everything ran very smoothly and professionally.
Zebra Plains review
Superb but and it's a big but! Garth brilliant as long as you can guarantee that he will be there because without simply would not be the same, don't get us wrong other guides more than capable but not in the same league. And as Garth often does private guiding he's not always there.
Need to make sure he is there when you wish to go.
Great walking camp
We really enjoyed our stay. Garth and Malemia were excellent guides as well as great hosts and although the camp was very new, it seemed very polished. Overall staffing was great; lots of charm.
The food was excellent; some of the best we've had anywhere. The wine glasses were some of the nicest and most delicate I've come across (although I doubt they'll last for long!). I know that's an odd thing to comment on but it was very typical of the attention to detail in the camp.
Tents were basic (bucket showers, solar lights, simpl flush toilets) but more than good enough and remarkably so given the location. The common areas were great too and the location by the river was lovely.
And the game was very good; elephants, buffalo, lions and so on. More than we had expected to see in a walking camp
