Great hotel in centre of Stone Town
Great small hotel in the centre of Stone Town. We were upgraded to a Sultan room, however all of the rooms seemed to be of a very high standard. Breakfasts good and the restaurant is great for dinner (if a bit pricey).
The staff were really helpful and informative and made the end of our trip as good as the rest despite the difficulties of the loss of power to the island.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for a short interlude in Stone Town

We stayed there for 1 night and loved the individual character of the spacious rooms and hallways. Great, quiet location to explore Stone Town from and the staff were very welcoming.
We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant in the evening which, although was more expensive than you would typically pay in Stone Town, was still excellent value for money.

Only stayed one night so I really cant say much other than the rooms were ok, the bathroom sink did leak quite badly (even with the bucket underneath) I woudnt say this was a particually special hotel but at the same time I wouldnt say it was bad....
Did go to the resturant which was really nice, it was recommended to me before we came and it was really nice, a little pricey when compared to other resturants in the area but not horrendous

Stayed here for the last night of our trip before flying home. Good base to explore Stonetown.
Food in the restaurant was very good.

Great hotel, loved the room and location.
The downside was the meal. Although the restaurant is well rated our dinner was not good. We had a seafood tray (the most expensive oten on the menu) and most of it was so overcooked as to be unedible. Don't know if this is a routine problem or if the kitchen just had a bad day.

Nice small hotel with friendly staff in the old town within walking distance of everything.

We were only at Beyt al Chai for two nights, but it was a lovely place to be based in Stone Town.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean, comfortable and individual.
The complimentary bottle of champagne on our first night was very much appreciated!

Laid back staff, good accommodation and excellent lounge. Breakfast a bit "routine"

I found the atmosphere with the old furniture slightly depressing, although the room was quite comfortable. The bathroom could do with improvement.
We were unlucky in that while we were there the hotel had a leak in their water system, and had to turn the water off most of the time, which did nothing to help with one's comfort level.
However, the people were all friendly and pleasant.
