This safari spends 7 nights along the Zambezi, first stopping on the banks of Lake Kariba, inside Matusadona National Park and then on to the banks of the Zambezi River proper, in Mana Pools National Park. It begins with three nights at Rhino Safari Camp situated on a small, semi-permanent island. This area attracts a variety of game including elephant and antelope. Drawn to the foreshore of the Lake by the sweet grazing and ready supply of water this high density of herbivores in turn attracts prides of lion and supports leopard, crocodile and hyena too. The safari then finishes off with four nights at Vundu Camp. The variety of activities here is great, with walking, game drives, canoeing and fishing all very popular.
From Victoria Falls you'll catch a light aircraft and travel along the Zambezi River to Rhokari Airstrip. A half-an-hour road and boat transfer then takes you on to begin your 3 night stay at Rhino Safari Camp. At times this island is completely cut off from the mainland and at others it’s reached by a 'bridge' of land. There's no electricity (although you can charge devices via solar charged batteries) and the lodge feels very remote. It's a great place to base yourself for the variety of activities on offer - spend the morning on a game drive and the afternoon on the lake trying a spot of fishing or just looking for game. Guided walks are also available too.
After your time at Rhino Safari Camp you’ll transfer by boat to Rhokari Airstrip. From here another light aircraft transfer of about an hour takes you down the Zambezi and on to Mana Pools National Park. Your final 4 nights are spent at Vundu Camp. On arrival at the airstrip You'll be met by your guide to begin the short drive to camp. This will be your base for the next few nights and you'll be shown to your tented chalet on arrival. Vundu is a down to Earth place but the quality of guiding is extremely high indeed. During your stay you'll explore the Zambezi River Front in great detail with some very good guides indeed.
Leaving Vundu it's another flight transfer, this time south the Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare. You’ll arrive in the city by around late-morning or early-afternoon and from here you can proceed on with your own arrangements, be that an international flight on to somewhere else, or further holiday arrangements within Zimbabwe.
