Savannah Monitor Road Safari

Savannah Monitor Safari: In full

This top-value 3-night road safarivisits the vast expanse of Tsavo East National Park. You'll be based here at the long-established, traditionally styled Satao Camp, set around a grove of trees near water holes which attract plenty of wildlife. Comfortable and well managed, but unpretentious, Satao is located in the far southeast of the park, far from other camps, giving your game drives a good deal of privacy. As well as all of Tsavo's plains grazers, plus the big cats, the thickets of this area harbour some of the park's most majestic big tusker elephants.

It's easy to combine this safari with one of our beach holidays on the Kenya coast to your itinerary.

Days 1-3

3 nights at Satao Camp (full board & activities) | Tsavo East National Park, Kenya

Satao Camp is a traditional camp in a shady grove along the Voi River in Tsavo East.In the morning you'll be collected by your private driver-guide in a 4x4 from your coastal hotel or one of the coast's airports – Diani Beach, Mombasa, Vipingo or Malindi. You'll be driven to the Buchuma Gate of Tsavo East National Park and then on to Satao Camp.

Settle into your tent before lunch under the trees, with a view across the plains towards the water holes. After lunch, explore the camp (which you can also do on a guided nature walk), and then later take an afternoon game drive with your guide.

For the next three days, you'll explore the wide open Tsavo bush, offering plenty of opportunities to see giraffe, zebra and countless other species, including the big cats – lion, leopard and cheetah. The district around Satao camp is also famous for harbouring some of the park's finest big tuskers.

Day 4

On your last morning, after a final early game drive and breakfast, drive back to the coast to your hotel, or to one of the airport's for your onward flight connection.
