A smart lodge motel

We just stopped the one night. Very smart lodge and excellent friendly service.

Views across the river from our room were good.

Hakusembe Lodge review

Superb views of Angola across the river. Very good room, with a/c. Great buffet food.

The activities were very good value - the best we encountered.

Peaceful riverbank setting

Great location on the river near Rundu.

Lovely, well-equipped chalet room with view of villagers doing their washing on the Angolan bank! Dinner on the large deck after our excellent 'champagne sunset' cruise. Beautiful gardens with rooms well spread out.

Good overnight stop, though breakfast buffet was disappointing: nothing cooked to order and only white bread with margarine!

Hakusembe Lodge review

This was another overnight stop for us on our way to Etosha. There wasn't a huge variety of wildlife, but the location was pleasant, and the food first-class.

Hakusembe Lodge review

Lovely setting by the river. Food was nice and will cater for vegetarians if you ask.

Really more of a stopover location to break the journey from Etosha to the Caprivi Strip.

Very helpful staff.

Hakusembe Lodge review

Really enjoyed staying here although it was only for one night. Rooms fantastic. The sundowner was well worth the money. Saw our first hippo - what a sight!
Shared the sundowner cruise with one other couple, plus two bottles of bubbly and snacks- great!
Food buffet style with a good well cooked selection.
The access road was flooded but the transfer by boat to the lodge was smooth and well organised.

Lovely Grounds and Beautiful Setting

Recently changed hands and benefitting from the subsequent refurbishment (which still needs refining). The surrounding gardens and view across to Angola are beautiful.

Service in the restaurant was lovely, but the room was a bit cavernous! The sundowner and morning nature boat trip were both well-informed and worthwhile. The track leading to Hakusembe was a bit of a challenge as it had recently rained!

On the river at Hakusembe

The four of us shared a lovely house here with 2 bedrooms, lounge and large dining table. We had a lovely outlook over the river. The staff were exceptional here and a pleasure to be with. Our guide on the river trips was great. Mathias was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the area and fun to be with.

The high spot was the cultural dancing we had asked for. The group were internationally renowned and the manager said we were very lucky they were free to sing and dance for us. The staff at Hakusembe Lodge enjoyed it as much as we did and some of them came back on their day off to see the group. The lodge paid part of the cost as the whole dining room enjoyed the show free of charge! We felt it had been worth every penny.

We were sorry to leave here and to leave the exceptionally charming fun staff.

Hakusembe Lodge review

There had been 1 day of heavy rain and the approach road was quite interesting for a 2 wheel drive.

Big puddles and the new tracks around the puddles had seen some heavy traffic since the rain.
