"Relaxed and friendly comfortable. Management changed whilst we were there so ? the future.

They the newies were charming. Hope the wooden section of the pathway to the restaurant has been sorted as it was a potential hazard in wet weather." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 8 Dec 2009
"The sundowner walk on the first day was included and very enjoyable. The nature walk and nature drive, both with Gelasias, were very good, again with a first class guide. There were self-guided walks on offer but we did not try these. Staff and management were extremely welcoming and helpful although Mike, the manager, is due to move on which might change things.

It had more of an individual feel about it than some of the other places we stayed, perhaps because it was not part of a chain, or not so much on the main tourist routes.

There were interesting birds to see from the dining room, and other wildlife including porcupines and dassies (rock hyrax)." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Bird lovers paradise"

2 nights Arrived 24 Oct 2009
"A place that respects its environment and allows you to be close to nature. Birds come really close to the dinning room and swimming pool area so its easy to sit and watch them. There may be harmless insects attracted to the lights at night so if you don't like being that close to nature it may not be the place for you.

The rooms are scattered up the hillside and are very comfortable with a verandah to sit and admire the view. They have tea/coffee making facilities and a minibar. The poshest tents I have ever seen!!

The surrounding hills provide some lovely walks - either guided or unguided - with a chance to see small animals, buck, baboons and many different birds as well as good views. The guides are charming and very knowledgeable. The food is good and the staff friendly.

The "back route" to Erongo takes you close to the mountains and is worth the extra time if you have a 4wheel drive or high vehicle (the road was badly eroded by the rivers which cross it)

Just one thing that is a shame in such a relaxed environment. Immediately on arrival you are required to sign a harsh indemnity which absolves the company of any responsibility. Nowhere else confronted us with such a document - let's hope that they can find a more customer-friendly approach." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 13 Oct 2009
"The wonderful hosts, Mike & Carol, are working hard to give guests an outstanding experience. Their efforts paid off with us - we spent an enchanted two days here, a wonderful finale to our Namibia experience. The staff at Erongo are in the same mould as Kulala and Doro Nawas. They are obviously well trained and highly motivated. They engage with guests, do everything they can to meet guests' needs, are cheerful and positive and, when you get talking to them they are such interesting people. We learned a lot from them about the immediate area, Namibia and their own experiences and families.

The food is exceptional - it was original, tasty .... and very very filling ! The restaurant, with big open windows looking out onto the landscape, the waterhole and the resident porcupine, was a very atmospheric place. Carol and Mike were always there, greeting guests and checking that everything was meeting the quality thay expected.

Walks from the tent took us into and onto the local rocks: the views, the textures of the rocks and the sense of space are wondrous.
Our tent was an event in itself: built into the rock, marvellous views, and the fridge contained that all-important bottle of wine we needed to toast the sun as it set on our final evening in Namibia." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia; 2n in South Africa

2 nights Arrived 10 Oct 2009
"Fine for a 2 night stay, not enough walking to warrant more than that. Location is very good and management/staff were very helpful.

Afternoon tea is certainly worth partaking in (great cakes). We were sufficiently impressed by the sundowner walk that we did it both nights." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Relaxing at Erongo Wilderness"

3 nights Arrived 7 Oct 2009
"This was our second visit to this delightful camp and we chose it to relax for a couple of days before our travels started in earnest around Namibia. Mike and Carol treated us to a very special candlelit meal on the decking above the swimming pool to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and this was not only much appreciated but was a lovely start to our holiday.

The food was excellent as usual and we thoroughly enjoyed both the guided walks and excellent birding. We saw the most spectacular sunset on our last night when we climbed the rock for sundowners. From talking to fellow travellers this appears to be a little known camp but it's certainly a gem worth visiting." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"A great place to walk in the hills"

1 night Arrived 5 Oct 2009
"We loved this place! Beautiful hillwalks, excellent food (some of the best we had in 2 1/2 weeks in Namibia), and just a great attitude on the part of management.

The tents were very comfortable, although the very nervous might have problems with the bathrooms, which are open to the great outdoors." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana
