Stopover at Central Lodge

This was designed as a stop to break up a very long drive and it served its purpose. The rooms are tired and the A/C didn't work.

The pool area appeared very inviting for families.

Central Lodge review

We chose Central Lodge as a place to stay overnight to break the journey from Windhoek to Fish River Canyon. It served this purpose well and is also conveniently located for visiting the local attractions: Giant's Playground and Quiver Tree Forest. We were also able to join the cheetah feeding at 5pm at Gariganus Farm, where you buy your tickets for the Quiver Tree Forest.

We had dinner at Central Lodge in the evening and the meal was fine. Breakfast was another matter. We arrived at about 8am to find that other hotel guests had eaten all bread on the buffet and it was virtually impossible to get anything to eat! My repeated requests for toast were fruitless, whilst I saw toast being taken to several other tables!

This would be an excellent place to stay towards the end of a journey, as by the time we left I was wishing that I was back at home!

Central Lodge review

Good location, in the middel of town, but not much is going in there.

Central Lodge review

Good, clean accommodation, pleasant garden areas, very good value meals. Staff very polite.

Again ideal in proximity to various supermarkets and petrol stations

A memorable Manager!

We were disappointed that the 'luxury ' room with bath we had booked was not available apparently due to flooding .The alternative room with shower only was ok but the bathroom smelled of damp and the sheets on one bed were full of holes and the other was quite stained.

It was also very noisy right next to the outside terrace of the restaurant and with staff noise and radio sounds coming through the bathroom window on the other side as well. We had to wait a long time after we arrived for towels and toiletries to be provided so we couldn't use the bathroom straight away.

The manager was a marvellous, personable man who took it upon himself to bring them in the end and the next morning he also ensured we got breakfast even though it had all been cleared away (despite us arriving before it was due to finish and even having told the reception that we were going for a walk first and would be back to eat 15 mins before it ended) We were impressed that he asked the restaurant staff to lay things out again for us and even sent out to a shop for supplies as there was not much left after a large group had been in residence. We had initially been turned away by a waitress when we first arrived and were glad we had persisted and were able to enjoy the most beautifully cooked omelette of the entire trip!

A request for extra coffee supplies in the room to supplement the rather meagre existing ones was very promptly, politely and generously supplied so ironically the service was very good overall when it came to remedying 'problems'! The accommodation was in a useful position for walking round the interesting town and was a pleasant urban stopover with an attractive appearance and nice outdoor area.

Clean and smart Central Lodge

Well located in the centre of town, but not far to drive to the Quivertree Forest (our reason for being here).

Very clean and tidy. Manicured lawns and a spotless pool area.

Central Lodge review

This place is in town close to a supermarket and the banks. It has a luxury feel about it. Very clean and smart. There is a central lawned area with tables and chairs where you can sit with a drink in the sun.

The restaurant runs efficiently and the food is delicious.

Basic accommodation for a stop off on the way to Fish River Canyon.

Keetmanshoop was not somewhere to spend any time.

Central Lodge review

We were greeted by blank looks at the Reception Desk....it would appear no booking had been made! There was a wedding reception at the Lodge that day and they were accommodating wedding guests.

We were put in Room 19 next to a room used by the staff when off duty.....thru' the night we had loud music and high spirits. Please warn your guests in future not to accept Room 19!

Central Lodge review

We were dissapointed with the family room at this place and glad we only booked one night. It was worn down and have definitely seen better days. E.g. the curtains were very dirty and fell down when you touched. The door to the toilet could not close ect..

At least the family rooms need a serious makeover! However, the staff in the reception were friendly and the restaurant fairly good. The pool could be nice at summertime, but freezing cold at winter.
